Job DescriptionAbout the opportunity:
- Virtelligence is seeking an Epic Revenue Cycle Solution Architect to lead solution design for a revenue and facility department build transition affecting more than 460 specialty provider departments across two separate Epic instances within a major health system.
- The consultant will define the future-state department design, establish build standards, and guide application teams through implementation. This role requires detailed Epic configuration knowledge, independent architectural judgment, and the ability to assess downstream patient access and billing impacts.
Key responsibilities:
- Assess existing department structures, specialty workflows, and billing dependencies; define the future-state revenue and facility department design.
- Develop department inventories, current-to-future-state mappings, configuration specifications, and standards for consistent implementation at scale.
- Coordinate design across separate Epic instances, documenting configuration differences, dependencies, and approved exceptions.
- Evaluate impacts on professional and hospital billing workflows, charging, claim generation, reporting, and related patient access processes with the appropriate application owners.
- Direct analysts on required build, review configuration against approved designs, and resolve cross-application design questions.
- Partner with finance, revenue cycle, clinical operations, patient access, and Epic application teams to establish ownership and obtain design decisions.
- Define representative end-to-end test scenarios and acceptance criteria; support transition sequencing, cutover readiness, reconciliation, and stabilization.
- Identify risks to billing continuity and revenue integrity; maintain design decisions, dependencies, and escalation items.
Required qualifications:
- Epic Professional Billing or Epic Hospital Billing certification; either certification meets the stated requirement.
- Extensive Epic revenue cycle design and build experience, including department configuration and related billing dependencies.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a large-scale, multi-site department build or transition and provide precise build direction to analysts.
- Ability to assess cross-application impacts, lead design discussions, and work independently with operational and technical stakeholders.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience across both Professional Billing and Hospital Billing; large specialty provider networks; academic health systems; department standardization across separate Epic instances; and transitions involving hundreds of departments.
