Job Description Your day at a glance

Step onto the floor and open the day’s build plan and customer drawings. You’ll set up your CMM and verify your handheld tools—calipers, gauges, and micrometers—before moving into a steady rhythm of inspections. You translate GD&T callouts into actionable checks, measure completed parts, and determine whether each component meets our quality and production standards.

Throughout the shift, you capture measurements, analyze results, and turn raw data into clear reports for the Lead Quality Inspector, Cell Leaders, and the Manufacturing Manager. When a new job kicks off, you perform the first article inspection and ensure every required document travels with the packaged part. You sign Certificates of Conformance for the packing department, and you aren’t afraid to quarantine or reject parts that don’t meet spec.

Between runs, you keep an eye on output trends to help monitor efficiency and cost-effectiveness, maintain the inventory of shop tools, and stay plugged into evolving quality and accreditation standards. You operate within the Zero Hour Parts quality management system to make sure every part, project, and job exceeds customer expectations—and you jump into other assigned tasks as needed.

What you’ll do

• Inspect, test, and measure finished parts to customer design specs and established quality/production standards.
• Use calipers, gauges, and micrometers for dimensional checks; operate a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to verify capability.
• Interpret engineering blueprints and GD&T symbols to plan and execute inspections.
• Document findings and compile quality data/reports for quality and production leadership.
• Complete first article inspections and include all paperwork with the packaged part.
• Sign Certificates of Conformance and segregate/remove nonconforming product.
• Issue and maintain the inventory of shop tools.
• Stay current on quality/accreditation standards, manufacturing quality methods, and external/agency requirements.
• Adhere to the Zero Hour Parts quality management system; perform other duties as assigned.

What you’ll bring

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
• ASQ certification a plus; metallurgy laboratory training preferred.
• Fluency with gauges, calipers, and micrometers; comfortable operating a CMM.
• Meticulous work habits; knowledge of quality processes, statistical techniques, measurement and test equipment, and FMEA.
• Exposure to multiple materials (steel, aluminum, stainless, plastics, titanium, copper, brass) and industries (aerospace, automotive, medical device) is beneficial.
• Strong attention to detail and data aptitude; solid reading comprehension, math skills, and active listening.
• Proactive, collaborative, and exercises sound professional judgment.
• Works independently, organizes time well, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with changing priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook; software knowledge related to your area is desired.
