As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will lead multidisciplinary engineering projects from concept through delivery, develop practical technical solutions, and build execution strategies balancing technical excellence, schedule, cost, and customer priorities. Within your first year, you will earn the confidence of customers through sound engineering judgment and clear communication, becoming the technical leader customers and teammates rely on for difficult decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead system architecture and technical definition for multidisciplinary engineering programs.
  • Translate customer objectives or Statements of Work into practical execution strategies and phased engineering plans.
  • Develop system requirements, functional architectures, interface definitions, and integration strategies.
  • Coordinate work across systems, controls, electrical, software, mechanical, manufacturing, validation, and functional safety disciplines.
  • Develop project execution strategies by breaking complex technical challenges into achievable phases, identifying the highest-risk assumptions first, and sequencing work to maximize learning while minimizing program risk.
  • Lead customer technical discussions, design reviews, and milestone reviews.
  • Own the successful technical execution of projects by balancing architecture, engineering decisions, customer communication, scheduling, and risk management.
  • Escalate risks early with proposed solutions, balancing technical excellence, schedule, cost, and customer priorities.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.

Essential Skills

  • 8+ years of systems engineering experience in automotive, mobility, energy, or similar industries.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex technical programs.
  • Strong background in system architecture, requirements development, and integration.
  • Broad familiarity with embedded systems, vehicle networks, electrical systems, controls, and software development.
  • Experience with EV systems, functional safety, MBSE, or systems engineering toolchains is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.

Work Environment

This role involves working in a dynamic and collaborative environment, coordinating with multiple engineering disciplines such as systems, controls, electrical, software, mechanical, manufacturing, validation, and functional safety. The work setting encourages proactive risk management and effective communication to ensure successful project execution.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dexter, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $75.00/hr.
