Job Description

Workday HRIS Consultant – Remote Contract

Location: 100% Remote (U.S.)
Duration: 3-month contract with potential for extension
Pay: Up to $80/hour

About the Opportunity

We are partnering with an established healthcare organization that needs an experienced Workday professional to oversee and support its HR systems on a contract basis.

This position is ideal for someone who has extensive hands-on experience with Workday and is comfortable being the go-to technical resource for an organization's HR technology needs. You'll be responsible for keeping the system running smoothly, making configuration changes, resolving technical challenges, and working with an outside Workday support team when needed.

We're looking for someone who can step into an existing environment, quickly understand how it's set up, and operate independently without extensive training or supervision.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Act as the lead technical resource for the organization's Workday platform, handling both routine support and more involved system changes.
  • Make configuration adjustments within Workday HCM, including changes to workflows, permissions, and employee-related processes.
  • Investigate and fix Workday issues as they arise, determining when additional support or specialized expertise is needed.
  • Work across different areas of Workday, including employee data, recruiting, compensation, benefits, and payroll-related functionality.
  • Coordinate with a third-party Workday consulting/support team to get technical requests completed and ensure issues are resolved.
  • Build or modify Workday reports and help maintain accurate, reliable information within the system.
  • Work directly with HR and other business teams to understand what they need from Workday and implement appropriate changes.
  • Assist with system updates, testing, and improvements to existing functionality.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 5 years of experience working with HR systems, including substantial hands-on Workday experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Workday Core HCM, particularly configuration and administration.
  • Experience working with Workday security, business processes, and reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with several additional Workday functional areas, such as Recruiting, Compensation, Benefits, Talent, or Payroll.
  • Previous experience as a senior Workday administrator, HRIS lead, Workday consultant, or similar position.
  • Comfortable taking responsibility for a Workday environment without needing a large internal support team.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical colleagues.
  • Experience collaborating with an external Workday support provider is a plus.
  • Workday certifications are a plus but not required.

Contract Details

This is a fully remote contract opportunity expected to last approximately three months, with the possibility of an extension.

We're particularly interested in candidates who have supported Workday in an internal corporate environment and can contribute immediately.
