The Position:
The Assistant Project Manager supports the Project Manager in overseeing electrical construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role involves close coordination with project teams, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and clients, while managing critical project elements such as scheduling, resource allocation, documentation, and quality assurance.
Position Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
- Coordinate with project teams to align objectives and ensure seamless execution.
- Support project kickoff meetings, documentation, and closeout activities.
- Review electrical installations to ensure compliance with project specifications, electrical codes, and safety standards.
- Support punch list completion, QA/QC documentation, and project turnover activities.
- Perform regular site visits to assess progress, address challenges, and verify safety compliance.
- Facilitate communication between project team members, including electricians, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Assist in daily or weekly coordination meetings and document action items.
- Serve as a backup point of contact for clients and stakeholders, providing updates and addressing concerns promptly.
- Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules, tracking progress against milestones.
- Support budget monitoring by reviewing invoices, purchase orders, and forecasting costs.
- Assist in allocating labor, equipment, and materials to maximize project efficiency.
- Identify potential delays or cost overruns and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of services and materials.
- Review work for compliance with standards and contract requirements.
- Identify performance issues to maintain schedule and quality expectations.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in construction management, electrical engineering, or related field required.
- OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification preferred.
- Prior construction, assistant project management, or project coordination experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Procore, MS Project) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Preferred working knowledge of electrical power, lighting, life safety, and control systems, including distribution, grounding, and high/low-voltage coordination.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply information from electrical blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
- Preferred knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) with the ability to interpret and apply its standards to ensure safe and compliant electrical installations.
