Position Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Application Specialist to join the Product Inspection team at our Tewksbury, MA site on a 12-month temporary assignment.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide application and Demo Lab support for the Product Inspection portfolio, ensuring continuity and responsiveness for customer testing, product evaluations, demonstrations, and product development activities.
The successful candidate will work closely with Applications Engineering, Product Management, Sales, Engineering and other cross-functional teams to understand customer requirements, execute application testing, document results and support the identification of the most appropriate technical solutions.
This role provides an opportunity to gain broad exposure to Product Inspection technologies, customer applications and new product development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the day-to-day operation and activities of the Tewksbury Product Inspection Demo Lab.
• Plan, prepare and execute customer and internal application tests, feasibility evaluations and product demonstrations.
• Understand customer applications and translate requirements into appropriate test plans and equipment configurations.
• Analyze test results and provide clear technical findings, recommendations and supporting documentation.
• Partner with Applications Engineering and Sales teams to provide technical input for customer opportunities and solution selection.
• Support application-related activities associated with new product development, validation and product launches.
• Maintain testing records, application documentation and relevant technical information.
• Coordinate test priorities and laboratory activities to ensure appropriate turnaround time for customer and business requests.
• Ensure laboratory equipment is available, appropriately configured and ready for testing and demonstration activities.
• Support knowledge transfer and documentation of application expertise within the Product Inspection organization.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, Commercial and Service teams on application and product-related technical issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve application processes, tools, documentation and team efficiency.
Required Qualifications and Skills
• Technical background in engineering, applied science, instrumentation, automation or a related field, through education and/or relevant professional experience.
• Experience working in a technical, laboratory, applications, engineering or customer-support environment.
• Strong hands-on technical aptitude and ability to learn new equipment and technologies.
• Ability to understand customer requirements and translate them into structured testing or technical solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to document technical work and communicate results clearly to both technical and commercial stakeholders.
• Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple testing requests and priorities.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills in a cross-functional environment.
• Comfortable working independently in a hands-on laboratory environment.
• Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience with industrial inspection, automation, instrumentation, manufacturing equipment or similar technical products.
• Experience performing customer demonstrations, application testing, product validation or feasibility studies.
• Familiarity with Product Inspection equipment or applications.
• Experience supporting Sales or Applications Engineering organizations.
• Exposure to continuous-improvement or process-automation initiatives.
