Pay: $37 - $42/hrSummary:

Our client in Albany, NY is looking for a Assistant Project Manager to support the Corporate Marketing team by editing and proofreading large technical reports to ensure clarity, consistency, and adherence to editorial and brand standards. The position focuses on managing multiple editing projects, collaborating with technical teams, and performing detailed quality checks to prepare documents for publication, while helping reduce a backlog of reports.Key Responsibilities

  • Line edit and proofread technical reports (75–400+ pages) in Microsoft Word to detect and correct errors in spelling, punctuation, syntax, and consistency
  • Edit copy to improve readability and ensure clarity
  • Edit content to ensure it does not introduce liability or create a negative impression of NYSERDA
  • Format tables, graphics, and captions for consistency
  • Format references, including appendices, footnotes, and endnotes
  • Perform sample edits prior to completing full edits
  • Query and collaborate with technical program team members regarding significant changes in content, style, or organization
  • Create and maintain a style sheet for each project
  • Follow established processes and style guidelines
  • Apply accessibility requirements when editing documents
  • Perform final "quality check” reviews of PDF documents prior to publication
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, technical writing, communications, or a related field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience OR Bachelor's degree in another field with at least 5 years of directly relevant experience
  • Proven technical editing skills
  • Strong analytical, planning, organizational, and time management skills
  • Experience editing for multiple audiences, including technical and non-technical readers
  • Superior command of the English language, including grammar and usage
  • Understanding of AP Style and Chicago Manual of Style
  • Ability to interpret technical information and present it clearly and effectively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Word
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines with accuracy and strong judgment


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical background or familiarity with technical subject matter
  • Experience editing for a variety of content types (technical, marketing, and creative)
  • Familiarity with document accessibility standards
  • Advanced formatting and editing skills in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience working with diverse audiences including consumer, business, academic, and government stakeholders

Additional information:

  • Fully remote role
  • No travel required
  • Contractor must provide a computer capable of accessing NYSERDA's virtual network, including camera and microphone for virtual meetings
