Our client is seeking a Senior Investment Data Analyst to join its Enterprise Data Management team. This role serves as a key connection point between investment operations, data management, and technology, helping ensure the accuracy, integrity, and availability of investment data across the organization.
The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex data challenges, working with investment-related datasets, and supporting enterprise-wide data initiatives. This individual will develop a deep understanding of investment data flows, identify and resolve data issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement solutions that improve data quality and operational efficiency.
This position will also support security master and reference data management functions while contributing to the continued growth and enhancement of the firm's enterprise data warehouse and data platform capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Investment Data Management & Analysis
- Develop expertise in investment datasets, including security master data, benchmark information, pricing data, credit ratings, classifications, and other market and reference data.
- Maintain and support critical investment data used by portfolio management, trading, compliance, performance, accounting, and operations teams.
- Investigate, analyze, and resolve data issues using SQL and related tools to trace data throughout source systems, transformations, integrations, and downstream applications.
- Perform research and analysis on fixed income and equity securities utilizing information from financial data providers and market data sources.
- Identify recurring data quality issues, evaluate underlying causes, and recommend scalable improvements through automation and process enhancements.
- Collaborate with investment, operations, compliance, technology, and business teams to address data challenges and support strategic projects.
Data Warehouse & Platform Support
- Contribute to the maintenance, enhancement, and support of the enterprise data warehouse environment.
- Work closely with Data Engineering and business stakeholders to transform investment data requirements into scalable data solutions.
- Develop and maintain data validation routines, reconciliation processes, business rules, and transformation logic.
- Assist with the creation and support of automated data pipelines using modern cloud and data technologies.
- Build and maintain trusted data assets that support reporting, analytics, investment processes, and operational functions.
- Participate in data governance activities, including documentation, data lineage tracking, testing, and data modeling.
Process Improvement & Business Solutions
- Recommend and implement improvements to data workflows, integrations, controls, and operational processes.
- Gather business requirements and convert them into clear functional and technical specifications.
- Support or lead data-focused projects involving system enhancements, integrations, automation, and process optimization.
- Partner with stakeholders to improve data accessibility, reliability, and overall user experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field. Equivalent industry experience may be considered.
- Five or more years of experience within asset management, financial services, investment data management, or a similar data-focused environment.
- Strong understanding of financial markets and investment instruments, including equities and fixed income securities.
- Experience supporting security master, pricing, market, portfolio, or reference data environments.
- Advanced SQL skills with the ability to independently investigate and resolve data issues.
- Knowledge of data transformations, integrations, mappings, and multi-system workflows.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working within the asset management or investment management industry.
- Familiarity with investment management platforms such as Charles River, Advent APX, or similar systems.
- Experience utilizing financial market data providers such as Bloomberg, FactSet, ICE, Moody's, Fitch, or S&P.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise data warehouse environments, cloud-based data platforms, and data quality initiatives.
- Experience with Snowflake, dbt, or comparable modern data technologies.
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools such as Dagster, Airflow, or related platforms.
- Experience supporting data governance, testing, reconciliation, and data modeling initiatives.
