Job Description
Ideal Candidate Profile: Seeking a SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) with good experience in SQL Server 2019+,database administration, performance tuning, upgrades, migrations, clustering, and high availability.Hands-on experience supporting large-scale production databases, including deadlock/blocking analysis, Query Store, Extended Events, wait statistics, and optimization of 2TB+ Strong cloud database experience with Azure, Snowflake, and/or Databricks, along with expertise in T-SQL, Windows environments, and SQL Server installations/patching.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
\n
Monitor databases to maintain/ensure database up time and availability.
\n
Troubleshoot application/database issues relatedto connectivity, access, security, etc.
\n
Tune long running SQL
\n
Review & refine existing database tasks and processes to better align with agency/group priorities.
\n
Leverage & utilize O/S scripting utilities in support of database maintenance/diagnosis/support.
\n
Review the existing database implementation and propose, execute, and/or direct necessary changes.
\n
Perform SQL Server installations (2022,2025+ w/failover clustering).
\n
Support SQL Server databases (administration,support, tuning).
\n
Knowledgeable of data modeling principles
\n
Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
\n
Independently perform a variety of complicated tasks.
\n
Work with a team of Engineering and Operations professionals.
\n
Communicate clearly and effectively, both speaking and in writing.
\n
\n
Required Skills & Experience
\n
Strong experience w/ Microsoft SQL Server database
\n
Azure, Snowflake, or Databricks experience (a certification is acceptable in lieu of experience)
\n
Master's degree in computer science, information systems or other applicable and/or equivalent skills, knowledge and/or work history
\n
Demonstrated experience in communicating effectively using standard requirements and design artifacts
\n
Hands-on experience upgrading E-ZPass Virginia Tolling SQL Server environments from SQL 2012 to SQL 2019, including compatibility evaluations, Query Tuning Assistant, and Database Migration Assistant.
\n
Experience diagnosing and resolving deadlocks and blocking in Tolling production workloads, including extended events, QueryStore, and wait statistic analysis.
\n
Experience tuning Very Large Databases (2 TB+)including index optimization, long running workload analysis, and minimizing resource contention.
\n
Desired knowledge of and experience with the following technologies:
