Location: Greater Milwaukee - Hybrid (3 days onsite per week)
Duration: 6 months expected with possible extension
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Python Developer to join a data engineering team focused on building and enhancing enterprise data services. This role will partner closely with architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to design, develop, and maintain scalable applications and microservices that support critical data management initiatives.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing backend services, creating and enhancing APIs, implementing new features, and contributing to technical roadmaps. This position offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative Agile environment while building solutions that improve data accessibility, automation, and operational efficiency across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Python-based applications and microservices.
- Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to define technical solutions and product roadmaps.
- Build and support RESTful APIs and backend services.
- Implement enhancements and new features based on stakeholder requirements.
- Develop automated processes and workflows to support enterprise data initiatives.
- Troubleshoot, optimize, and maintain existing applications and services.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement activities.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and cloud-based deployments.
- Work within an Agile/Scrum team environment.
Required QualificationsTechnical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Python development.
- Experience building and supporting RESTful APIs.
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
- Strong experience with relational databases and data-driven applications.
- Experience developing and deploying containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of CI/CD practices and source control tools such as GitLab.
- Experience with Linux environments.
- Familiarity with messaging and event-driven technologies such as Kafka, Redis, MQ, or similar solutions.
- Understanding of distributed systems and scalable software design principles.

- Exposure to enterprise-scale data management platforms and tooling.
