The Engineering Change Order (ECO) Engineer is responsible for managing and coordinating the generation and revision of all engineering technical documentation through the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process. This role ensures that design, documentation, and production updates are accurately documented, processed, communicated, and implemented across all departments.
- Defines, characterizes, and leads all aspects of Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s), included but not limited to engineering technical documentation generation and revision through the initiation, execution, and implementation of ECO’s.
- Monitor customer feeds for changes that may trigger an ECO.
- In depth review of all new specification and drawing updates to clearly identify changes.
- Assures sound engineering principals are applied to all processes and documentation.
- Develop a working understanding of manufacturing processes to facilitate collaboration with other engineers.
- Management of Methods of Manufacture (MOM) and Bills of Material (BOM) in current and future ERP systems.
- Actively listen, probe, and identify concerns. Develop credibility, loyalty, trust, and commitment, specifically with manufacturing subject matter experts.
- Other assignments as required.
Requirements:
- Requires a multidisciplined background with a focus on engineering documentation.
- Demonstrated success managing Engineering Change Orders
- Communication skills - must have good listening skills in addition to excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and documentation practices.
- Ability to multitask.
- A proven understanding of part and quality workmanship.
- Ability to analyze data and make recommendations.
- Must be capable and willing to share knowledge and develop associates.
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
- Ability to work with all levels of personnel from company president to production associates.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar technical field.
- Years Experience: 2+ years in engineering document control or related technical field.
- Experience working with engineering change orders or similar technical documentation a plus.
- Must be an intermediate to advanced skilled user of Excel.
- Familiarity with ERP systems preferred.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment a plus.
Working Conditions
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, ambient air, fumes or airborne particles.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but occasionally high requiring safety equipment to be utilized.
Physical Requirements
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Candidate must be able to perform the physical responsibilities of the job utilizing arms, hands, and fingers to perform complex functions of manufacturing parts and performing other duties of the job, e.g., standing, sitting, walking through the facility and stairs, bending, squatting, kneeling, etc.
- Ability to lift or move items weighing up to 50lbs preferred.
Pay: $65,000.000-$75,000/year
