Solutions Architect, PLM Platform (Windchill)

A global manufacturer with a portfolio of well-known commercial and residential product brands is seeking a Solutions Architect to lead its Windchill PLM platform. You’ll join a small, tight-knit IT team and own the architecture, roadmap, and integrations that connect engineering, manufacturing, and enterprise systems.

Responsibilities
\n
• Own the end-to-end architecture, design, and long-term roadmap for the Windchill PLM environment, setting standards and best practices
\n
• Partner with IT and Engineering teams to assess, design, and deliver PLM tools, systems, and projects
\n
• Lead efforts to bring AI/ML into the PLM landscape, including smarter search, predictive insights, automated classification, and workflow automation
\n
• Plan and drive large PLM initiatives such as upgrades, patches, data migrations, and bulk data loads
\n
• Design and govern integrations between Windchill and ERP (SAP), including connectors, data mapping, and reconciliation
\n
• Build and customize lifecycles, change workflows (ECO/MCO), and attributes using Windchill Java APIs and extension frameworks
\n
• Translate engineering needs into technical solutions, including CAD data exchange (Creo, SolidWorks, NX) and CAD-to-PDM synchronization
\n
• Keep the platform fast, secure, and reliable through performance tuning, security model design (roles, groups, ACLs, domains), and data integrity checks
\n
• Mentor PLM developers on architecture, design patterns, and emerging tools
\n
• Push continuous improvement through automated testing, CI/CD, and quality engineering practices
\n
\n
Requirements
\n
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar
\n
• 10+ years designing, developing, and supporting Windchill PLM
\n
• Deep knowledge of Windchill core, PLM data models, BOM structures, and lifecycle management • Advanced Java (SE/EE) skills, plus Windchill APIs, REST/web services, and UI customization (JSP, WTK, Angular)
\n
• Hands-on experience integrating Windchill with SAP/ERP and handling CAD data exchange
\n
• Strong Windchill administration background: security, backup/restore, upgrades, patching
\n
• Experience with CI pipelines, automated testing, source control, and release management
\n
• Working knowledge of AI/ML tools (Python, NLP, predictive modeling) and ideas for embedding AI assistants into enterprise platforms
\n
• Proven leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills across teams
\n
• Agile delivery experience
