Job Description
Role: Platform Engineer
\n
Location: Madison, WI 53783
\n
Duration: Fulltime position
\n
\n
Responsibilities:
\n
- Strong experience in the BFSI/insurance domain — you understand how insurance carriers structure technology around lines of business (e.g., personal auto, claims, policy administration), and can map that structure onto a technical service catalog without flattening meaningful business distinctions.
\n
- Strong experience with Datadog and ServiceNow — hands-on with Datadog Service Catalog / APM tagging conventions and monitor configuration, and with ServiceNow CMDB (cmdb_ci_service, relationship tables) well enough to reason about data quality, matching heuristics, and where each system's data can and can't be trusted.
\n
- Strong experience rolling out platform/framework adoption — a track record of getting engineering teams to adopt shared tooling or standards through incentive design and low-friction onboarding rather than top-down mandates that don't stick; comfortable running a phased, metrics-driven rollout across many independent teams.
\n
- Strong experience in Python and automation — able to build and maintain data-matching/ETL pipelines (fuzzy matching, scoring, join logic across heterogeneous sources) as production-grade automation, not one-off scripts.
\n
\n
Preferred Qualifications:
\n
- Experience with GitLab (CI Visibility, project/group tagging) and Backstage or similar internal developer portals.
\n
- Familiarity with service dependency mapping and system-of-record/provenance patterns in a catalog or CMDB context.
