We are seeking field technicians and tradespeople who are comfortable performing physical labor and working on construction jobsites daily.
Traveling High-Count Ribbon Fiber Splicer
Job Summary
Flex Tech is seeking experienced High-Count Ribbon Fiber Splicers for specialized data center fiber projects. This is an advanced, hands-on field position requiring proven experience with large-count fiber, ribbon splicing, spider-web/rollable-ribbon fiber, fusion splicing, and fiber testing.
Candidates must be willing and able to travel for assignments lasting up to three weeks at a time. This is not an entry-level fiber technician position.
Required Scope of Work
Qualified candidates must be capable of performing the following:
- Prep and handle 288-count fiber
- Prep and handle 6,912-count fiber
- Work with other large-count fiber, including 864-count, 1,728-count, and 3,456-count
- Splice 12-count ribbon fiber
- Splice 16-count ribbon fiber
- Perform pitch conversion
- Work with spider-web and rollable-ribbon fiber
- Ribbonize individual single-strand fibers
- Perform fusion splicing
- Conduct OTDR testing and troubleshooting
- Conduct OLTS testing
- Test and troubleshoot MPO connectors
- Test and troubleshoot LC connectors
- Complete high-count fiber work in active data center environments
- Maintain accurate labeling, documentation, and fiber organization
- Follow all project-specific safety and quality-control procedures
Minimum Experience Requirements
Candidates must have:
- At least two years of ribbon-splicing experience
- At least one year of spider-web or rollable-ribbon splicing experience
- At least one year of experience prepping and handling large-count fiber
- At least one year of OTDR testing experience
- At least one year of OLTS testing experience
- Hands-on experience with high-count fiber in data center environments
- Ability to pass a required background check
- Ability to pass a required drug screening
- Ability and willingness to travel for up to three weeks at a time
- Reliable transportation while on assignment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with 288-count, 864-count, 1,728-count, 3,456-count, or 6,912-count fiber
- Experience performing pitch conversions
- Experience ribbonizing single-strand fiber
- Experience testing and troubleshooting MPO and LC connectors
- Previous experience supporting large-scale data center deployments
- Ability to work independently and meet production and quality expectations
Work Environment
This is a field-based position performed in active data center environments. Candidates must be comfortable completing detailed, hands-on fiber work while following strict safety, cleanliness, documentation, and quality-control requirements.
