Our certified and highly-skilled teams specialize in structural steel design, engineering, detailing, fabrication, erection and retrofit to existing structural members.The Director of Information Technology is a hands-on leadership role responsible for building and executing the technology strategy that will support Kinsley Steel's next phase of growth. This role oversees the IT while remaining directly engaged in day-to-day technical decisions, architecture, and problem-solving.This role partners closely with executive leadership to translate business goals into a technology roadmap, and serves as the primary escalation point for complex technical, security, and infrastructure decisions.Leadership & Team ManagementDirectly supervise, mentor, and develop the IT team, setting clear priorities, performance goals, and professional development plans.Remain hands-on with critical technical work, escalated issues, and complex projects where senior-level expertise and architecture knowledge is required, rather than operating purely at a strategic level.Build department structure, workflows, and documentation standards appropriate for a growing, multi-location organization.Own the IT budget, including forecasting, capital planning, and cost optimization across all locations.Negotiate and manage contracts with technology vendors, managed service providers, and software partners.Strategy & Business AlignmentPartner with Kinsley Steel business leadership to define and execute a multi-year technology roadmap that supports the company's growth strategy.Identify and evaluate emerging technologies - including automation and AI - that can create efficiencies across estimating, detailing, fabrication, project management, and back-office functions.Serve as the key technology advisor to the business leadership as well as in strategic planning and capacity planning discussions.Oversee the delivery of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.AI Strategy & GovernanceDevelop and lead the company's approach to responsible AI adoption, identifying practical use cases, evaluating, and piloting AI-enabled tools.Cybersecurity & Risk ManagementOwn and modernize the company's overall cybersecurity strategy, including network security, endpoint protection, identity and access management, and data protection.Establish and maintain security policies, incident response plans, and disaster recovery/business continuity procedures across all locations.Enterprise Systems & InfrastructureOwn the performance, integration, and roadmap for key business systems ensuring they effectively support the business.Oversee network architecture, servers, cloud infrastructure, end-user devices, and business applications across all locations.Provide technical leadership in key technologies including Active Directory, Microsoft 365, ERP/manufacturing/project systems, and data platforms.Evaluate, select, and implement new hardware, software, and infrastructure solutions to support business efficiency and scalability.Qualifications:Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in information technology, including at least 5 years in a leadership or management role overseeing IT staff and strategy.Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Demonstrated experience leading cybersecurity strategy, including security frameworks, incident response, and disaster recovery planning; relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, Security+) preferred.Experience evaluating or implementing AI tools and establishing governance, data use, or acceptable-use policies a strong plus.Hands-on experience with enterprise networking (Cisco/Meraki), Active Directory, Microsoft 365, virtualization (VMWare/Hyper-V), and backup/recovery solutions (e.g., Veeam).Experience with, or strong aptitude for, construction or manufacturing-related software such as Trimble Viewpoint, Tekla, and AutoDesk strongly preferred.Proven experience managing IT budgets, vendor contracts, and supplier negotiations.Strong leadership, coaching, and team-development skills, with the ability to remain hands-on with technical work as needed.Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities across locations.Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical business leaders.Ability to travel periodically to other company locations.Valid Driver's License required.Equal Opportunity Employer: All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.Kinsley Steel, Inc. is a Drug Free Workplace where post-offer applicants and employees are subject to testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol when criteria is met as outlined in our policies.Kinsley Steel, Inc. is a participant in the Federal E-Verify Program.
