Snapshot / Role Overview
We're seeking a Project Engineer in the San Jose area to support major commercial mechanical projects across HVAC, plumbing, piping, boiler, chiller, and sheet metal scopes from design through closeout.
Impact
- Keep engineering, detailing, and field construction coordinated on major builds.
- Help control budgets, schedules, and change orders.
- Build strong working relationships with general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Grow toward project management on large mechanical projects.
Responsibilities
- Assist project managers with scheduling, billing, and change order documentation.
- Review plans, specifications, and submittals for HVAC, piping, and plumbing.
- Prepare submittal packages and keep project documentation organized.
- Coordinate procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontracted services.
- Track financials, including WIP reports and vendor balances.
- Capture action items at BIM coordination and sync meetings.
- Resolve field issues quickly with GCs and subcontractors.
Must-Haves
- Project engineering or field experience in mechanical construction.
- Ability to read mechanical plans and specifications.
- Organized documentation and communication.
Nice-to-Haves
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering.
- Estimating exposure.
