Summary

As a Project Controls Analyst at HR Green, you’ll be the right-hand partner to our Civil Engineering Project Managers, helping bring critical water and infrastructure projects to life — from first proposal to final invoice. You’ll manage the moving pieces: assist with invoicing, contracts, subconsultants, and schedules — keeping our projects organized, our teams aligned, and our clients confident that everything is on track.

The Project Controls Analyst will support our growing Water Business Unit. You’ll partner with our experienced teams in South Dakota, Minnesota, and Illinois regions where HR Green has a long, trusted history. Each day will look a little different — one moment, you’re working with accounting to prepare progress reports; the next, you’re helping a PM forecast staffing needs or fine-tuning billing recommendations.

This is a hybrid role that offers the best of both worlds — working from home two days a week and collaborating in the office three days a week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports civil PMs with the development and organization of project data such as fee estimates, project plans and schedules, status reports, cost reports, and backlog projections.
  • Supports project team with document management to ensure the project file structure complies with the HR Green’s standards.
  • Identify differences in project task progress against project schedule and budget.
  • Input project work plans in accordance with professional services agreement to ensure acceptable project setup to invoice and monitor project progress.
  • At direction of the PM, update work plans to accurately reflect resource needs for projects.
  • Collect project data to help identify potential project problems (project variances, aged Unbilled/WIP, aged Accounts Receivables, etc.).
  • Assists PM with monthly project billing and follows up with clients for approval and payment.
  • Assists with maintenance of project related data in Deltek Vantagepoint.
  • As directed, records PM & Client Service Manager (CSM) activities in Deltek Vantagepoint.
  • Assists with documentation of project lessons learned. Assists PM with project close-out according to HR Green Standards.
  • At direction of Lead Project Control Analyst and PM, and consistent with HR Green policies, purges and prepares documents for archive storage.

Education and Experience

  • Associate’s degree in finance, business, construction management, project management or equivalent years of relevant project controls experience required. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Zero to two years of project controls related experience preferred.
  • General knowledge of project budget management is strongly desired.
  • Experience working with project financial indicators is desired.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Detail-oriented and set high standards for quality.
  • Ability to work within a team, build relationships and work effectively at all levels of an organization including business development and technical staff.
  • Ability to work effectively on a variety of projects concurrently, in a demanding environment, under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and database software (experience with Deltek Vantagepoint a plus).
  • Willing to work onsite in the office three days each week as part of a hybrid schedule.

Compensation

$50,000.00 - 75,000.00

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in accordance with the Minnesota Omnibus Labor and Industry Policy Bill Article 7 Section 2 and the Illinois Salary Transparency amendment to the Equal Pay Act of 2003. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, skills, prior work experience, competencies, and geographic work location. The total annual compensation package may consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate, after a qualifying period, in our performance and discretionary incentive bonus program(s).
