Lead Full Stack Engineer (DevOps + AI)
Technology
Job Description
Peptidology · Remote, hybrid or in person (Phoenix, AZ) · Contract-to-hire
\n
\n
I'm Josh, founder of several companies in the biotech space. We run the company on software we built ourselves. Our ERP, our lab-results system, our storefront, our checkout, our Lab Partnership program. All in-house.
\n
\n
Today I run that platform with one contract DevOps engineer. I want one person to own it and keep building on it. We start contract-to-hire. That's this job.
\n
\n
What you'd be taking over
\n
- \n
- Our own ERP: purchasing, lots, batches, inventory, lab testing, releases. The ops and quality team lives in it every day.
- Our own LIMS: every lot is tested by independent labs. The system takes in the lab reports, checks them, and publishes certificates customers can verify.
- The storefront: WordPress and WooCommerce on a hand-built theme, with custom plugins for checkout, fraud screening, store credit, the Lab Partnership program and customer accounts.
- The infrastructure: Linux, nginx, Redis, Cloudflare, GitHub. Main is production within about a minute, so every release is gated, verified and owned.

How we work
\n
- \n
- AI is how we build. We spend low five figures a month on AI tooling across Claude, Gemini, Grok and ChatGPT. You'll use all four, every day, and pick the right one for each job.
- We're focused on objectives we can measure.
- When building product, you'll work directly with the founder and key staff.
- Small team, no committee. You scope it, you ship it, you verify it, you own it.
- We check before we claim. Real logins on staging, counts before and after, nothing called live until it's proven live.
- Plain English. Short sentences. Technical detail at the end.

What you'll own
\n
- \n
- The whole platform: code, servers, deploys, monitoring, backups, security.
- New product: tools for ops, quality, customer service and finance, and the features customers touch. Everything we build has to grow revenue, protect margin or save the team hours.
- The AI toolchain: the agents, workflows and guardrails that let a small team ship like a big one.
- Design: you can design a screen yourself and make it good. When a project needs more, you brief and run an outside UX/UI team.
- The handover from me and our contractor, done cleanly, with nothing lost.

Who I'm looking for
\n
- \n
- A software developer first. You've built products people use, not only kept servers running.
- Full stack: PHP, WordPress and WooCommerce (or you'll pick them up fast), JavaScript, SQL, Linux, nginx, caching, CDNs, CI/CD, monitoring.
- DevOps on a live store: uptime, performance, incident response, patching, backups, access control. You've been the one on call.
- AI-native: you already use Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, n8n, etc to design, write, review and test code, and you can show me the before and after.
- A background in eCommerce or biotech. Both is better.
- A design eye, and the judgment to know when to bring in a UX/UI team.
- Direct and plain. You say what's done, what's not, and what you checked.

\n
\n
\n
Nice to have
\n
- \n
- Payments, fraud and chargebacks on a high-volume store.
- Lab or quality systems: certificates of analysis, lot tracking, chain of custody.
- Marketing data: GA4, Google Ads, Meta and TikTok pixels, email and SMS platforms.
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
Pay and setup
\n
- \n
- Contract-to-hire. A 90-day contract, extendable to six months, then conversion to a full-time hire.
- $60 to $95 an hour on contract, then $120K to $190K a year once hired, plus company-paid healthcare, 401(k) with match, and PTO. Where you land in the range depends on what you've shipped.
- Remote, hybrid or in person in Phoenix, AZ. All three work.
- No benefits during the contract.
- Start date: November 15, 2026.

How to apply
\n
- \n
- Apply here on LinkedIn.
- Skip the cover letter. Send me a Loom with you covering: the most useful thing you've built and what it changed, a link to code or a live product, and one example of how AI made you faster, with the before and after.
