Job DescriptionSalary:
Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-orientedInstallation & Service Technicianwith hands-on experience innetwork infrastructure,Extreme Networks switching,Axis IP camera systems, andGenetec Security Center software. This role is focused on commercial business environments and involves installing, configuring, and servicing network and security systems with high attention to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structured cabling, IP-based video surveillance, enterprise switching, and access control systems.
Reporting Relationship:
- Reports to the Director of Technology
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in network infrastructure and electronic security system installation/service.
- Working knowledge ofExtreme Networks switchinghardware and configurations.
- Hands-on experience withAxis IP camerasand network-based surveillance setups.
- Familiarity withGenetec Security Center, including camera enrollment, access control, and user interface.
- Solid understanding of basic IP networking: TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, subnetting.
- Proficient with cabling tools and test equipment for copper and fiber installations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and site plans.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and customer service orientation.
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
Responsibilities:
- Install and configureExtreme Networks switches, including VLANs, QoS settings, port configuration, and PoE management.
- Deploy and serviceAxis IP camera systems, including camera mounting, focusing, firmware configuration, and video stream setup.
- Configure and maintainGenetec Security Centersoftware for video surveillance and access control.
- Install, test, and certifyCat6/Cat6Aandfiber optic cablingusing proper standards and test equipment.
- Conduct system commissioning, documentation, end-user training, and post-installation support.
- Perform site surveys and assist in developing system layout and design documentation.
- Respond to service requests, perform system diagnostics, and complete repair or upgrade work on installed systems.
- Ensure all installations meet applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements.
- Work independently and collaboratively with project teams, clients, and vendors.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in construction environments, including ceilings, crawlspaces, and rooftops.
- Comfortable using ladders, lifts, and power tools.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Local and regional travel is required; occasional overnight travel may be necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:

- Axis Communications
- Genetec
- CompTIA Network+ or similar networking certification.
- OSHA 10/30 or general job site safety certification.
- Experience with ONVIF-compliant systems, access control hardware, or security integrations.
Performance Measurements:
- Quality of Installations: Measure the technician's ability to install network and security systems according to specifications, ensuring minimal rework and high client satisfaction.
- Timeliness: Evaluate how efficiently installations and service calls are completed, meeting deadlines and turnaround times.
- Customer Satisfaction: Gather feedback from clients on the technician's professionalism, communication skills, and ability to address their needs effectively.
- Technical Proficiency: Assess the technician's competence in configuring and troubleshooting network and security equipment, including adherence to industry standards and best practices.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety protocols during installations and service activities, minimizing incidents and ensuring a safe working environment.
- Documentation Accuracy: Evaluate the accuracy and completeness of documentation related to installations, service reports, and client interactions.
- Team Collaboration: Measure the technician's ability to collaborate with other team members, including effective communication and support in team projects.
