Our client is seeking a Expert Software Architect – DataMart, ETL & Business Intelligence


Location: Albany, NY
Job Type: Long-term contract
Work Arrangement: Hybrid


Position Overview

A long-term opportunity is available for an Expert Software Architect to support a statewide New York WIC technology program. The system supports nutrition assistance and health services for eligible women, infants, and children.

The selected architect will support an enterprise DataMart, reporting layer, data modeling, ETL processes, Oracle databases, and business-intelligence solutions. This position will provide backup support for both data modeling and ETL activities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze current and future WIC systems and conduct system comparisons.
  • Gather requirements, perform gap analysis, and prioritize reporting needs.
  • Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
  • Develop schema designs, dimensional models, source-to-target mappings, and technical documentation.
  • Establish data standards, naming conventions, governance practices, and quality controls.
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, accuracy, security, and compliance.
  • Document business processes, workflows, data flows, and system interfaces.
  • Develop, review, and optimize ETL processes for migrations from Sybase and Microsoft Access to Oracle.
  • Support Informatica mappings and enterprise data-integration architecture.
  • Design and support dashboards, reporting solutions, semantic layers, and BI deliverables.
  • Develop test plans, validation scenarios, reconciliation procedures, and defect-resolution processes.
  • Optimize Oracle database performance through query tuning, indexing, and partitioning.
  • Support database security, access controls, auditing, and state privacy requirements.
  • Evaluate implementation strategies, identify risks, and support mitigation planning.
  • Conduct design reviews, provide technical guidance, mentor team members, and support release planning.
  • Facilitate technical meetings and reporting-development discussions.
  • Complete NYS LATS timecards, monthly timesheets, meetings, and related administrative duties.



Required Qualifications

  • At least 84 months of expert-level software architecture or related technology experience.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance to large teams.
  • Extensive experience with enterprise data warehouses, BI environments, data modeling, and ETL solutions.
  • Strong experience with Oracle databases, enterprise reporting platforms, and data-integration technologies.
  • Ability to provide backup support for both data modeling and ETL development.


Preferred Qualifications

  • 84 months supporting OBIEE 11g/12c and Oracle Analytics Server.
  • 72 months leading ETL teams and designing Informatica data-integration architecture.
  • 72 months of advanced Oracle SQL and PL/SQL development, performance tuning, and optimization.
  • 72 months administering OBIEE/OAS environments, WebLogic, security, patching, migrations, and production support.
  • 84 months of OBIEE performance tuning and troubleshooting.
  • 48 months of dimensional modeling, star and snowflake schema design, source-to-target mapping, and data-warehouse documentation.
  • 48 months of ETL and BI testing, including SIT, UAT, regression testing, reconciliation, and defect resolution.
  • 48 months of advanced data validation and troubleshooting using SQL and PL/SQL.
  • 48 months of end-to-end BI implementation and data governance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
