Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Scrum Master with a strong technical background to join a dynamic Agile environment.

The ideal candidate will be a servant leader, coach, and facilitator who can guide teams in Scrum practices while also understanding software development concepts, technical workflows, and development processes.

This role will support up to three Agile teams and will focus on improving team productivity, removing technical and organizational impediments, promoting continuous improvement, and helping teams deliver high-quality products.

Key ResponsibilitiesScrum Facilitation

  • Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, including:
    • Daily Scrums
    • Sprint Planning
    • Sprint Reviews
    • Sprint Retrospectives
    • Backlog Refinement
  • Ensure Scrum events are productive, focused, time-boxed, and outcome-oriented.
  • Support effective Sprint execution across multiple Agile teams.

Impediment Removal

  • Identify, track, and actively remove impediments affecting team progress.
  • Leverage technical knowledge to understand and address complex technical blockers.
  • Coordinate with appropriate technical and business stakeholders to resolve dependencies and issues.
  • Escalate organizational impediments when necessary.

Coaching & Mentoring

  • Coach team members on Scrum values, principles, practices, and Agile methodologies.
  • Promote self-management and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Mentor teams on effective Agile practices and continuous improvement.
  • Encourage accountability, transparency, and ownership within Agile teams.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Foster collaboration between Scrum teams, Product Owners, stakeholders, and technical teams.
  • Act as a facilitator and communication bridge between business and technology groups.
  • Build trust and strong working relationships across teams.
  • Facilitate resolution of conflicts and disagreements.

Technical Understanding

  • Apply a strong technical background to understand software development workflows and technical challenges.
  • Participate effectively in technical discussions and help teams navigate technical impediments.
  • Understand development lifecycle concepts, engineering practices, and delivery processes.
  • Support teams in adopting effective technical practices where appropriate.

Continuous Improvement

  • Guide teams in continuously improving their Agile processes and delivery practices.
  • Analyze team performance and Agile metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Utilize Agile Metrics Portal (AMP) metrics to support data-driven continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate retrospectives and ensure improvement actions are tracked through completion.
  • Promote improvements in productivity, quality, predictability, and delivery outcomes.

Product Owner Support

  • Support the Product Owner with Product Goal definition and Product Backlog management.
  • Help ensure backlog items are clear, concise, prioritized, and ready for development.
  • Facilitate effective communication between Product Owners and development teams.
  • Help maintain alignment between product objectives and Sprint goals.

Technical Excellence

  • Encourage development teams to deliver high-value Increments that meet the Definition of Done.
  • Support adoption of relevant engineering practices such as:
    • DevOps
    • CI/CD
    • Automated testing
    • Continuous integration
    • Continuous delivery
  • Help remove process and organizational barriers to technical excellence.

Team Protection

  • Protect Agile teams from unnecessary external distractions and interruptions.
  • Help teams maintain focus on Sprint commitments and product objectives.
  • Manage external dependencies and stakeholder requests effectively.

Organizational Agile Adoption

  • Help the broader organization understand and adopt Scrum and Agile principles.
  • Provide Agile training, coaching, and guidance to stakeholders and team members.
  • Promote Agile maturity and consistent Scrum practices across supported teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience working as a Scrum Master.
  • Strong understanding of Scrum and Agile methodologies, including values, principles, roles, events, and practices.
  • Strong technical background with familiarity in:
    • Software development concepts
    • Development workflows
    • Software delivery lifecycle
    • Technical troubleshooting and dependencies
  • Experience supporting Agile development teams.
  • Experience working with Agile frameworks and methodologies.
  • Strong facilitation and coaching skills.
  • Servant-leadership mindset.
  • Strong conflict-resolution and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent decision-making and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Strong ability to build trust and relationships across technical and business teams.
  • Experience working with Jira, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Agile Metrics Portal (AMP) and Agile performance metrics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting multiple Agile/Scrum teams simultaneously.
  • Experience supporting up to three Agile teams.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering and DevOps practices.
  • Experience working with CI/CD and automated testing environments.
  • Experience in technical product development environments.
  • Scrum Master certification such as CSM, PSM, or equivalent is a plus.
