Position Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Systems Engineer - (Level 5) to lead advanced systems development efforts across our aerospace and defense portfolio. With over 15 years of hands-on experience, you'll architect and manage mission-critical systems involving command and control, avionics, sensors, satellite ground systems, and secure communications. This role demands deep technical expertise, defense systems knowledge, and leadership across the full development lifecycle - from concept through sustainment.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Mission Systems Engineering
- Lead architecture definition and integration of secure, resilient aerospace and defense systems (e.g., C4ISR, missile defense, UAV platforms, SATCOM).
- Develop and manage end-to-end systems requirements, interface control documents (ICDs), CONOPS, and verification plans.
- Apply MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo, Enterprise Architect) and DoDAF frameworks to define traceable and modular architectures.
Program & Technical Leadership
- Serve as technical lead for major DoD and aerospace programs, collaborating with prime contractors and government stakeholders.
- Guide system trades, risk assessments, and technical reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR, etc.).
- Mentor engineering teams and interface across disciplines including software, electrical, RF, and mechanical engineering.
Systems Integration & Test (SI&T)
- Oversee integration of hardware and software in lab, field, and flight test environments.
- Lead development of test plans and participate in system validation against operational requirements.
- Collaborate with V&V teams to resolve anomalies, manage test data, and ensure delivery of qualified systems.
Security, Compliance & Quality
- Ensure systems comply with security standards (e.g., NIST SP 800-171, RMF/DIACAP, ITAR).
- Participate in design for compliance with AS9100, MIL-STD, and other aerospace/defense quality standards.
- Support cybersecurity engineering and secure system design practices for classified programs.
Required Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Master's degree or certifications (e.g., INCOSE CSEP, CISSP, PMP, DAU courses) are highly desirable.
- Experience:
- 15+ years of experience in systems engineering roles for defense/aerospace programs.
- Proven leadership in systems design, requirements management, integration, and verification for complex defense systems.
- Experience supporting government customers (e.g., DoD, NASA, DHS) and working in secure environments (SCIF, classified networks).
- Technical Proficiency:
- Skilled in MBSE tools (Cameo, Rhapsody), requirements tools (DOORS, Jama), and configuration/data management.
- Experience with secure communications, embedded systems, radar, EO/IR, or flight control systems.
- Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall engineering lifecycles.
- Security Clearance:
- Must have or have had a Secret Clearence within the past 6 months.
- U.S. Citizenship is required due to contractual obligations.
