Job Description

The Test Technician performs functional and electrical testing on UPS, charger, and inverter modules to ensure they meet all specified requirements and industry standards. This role supports the development and validation of critical power infrastructure by operating test bays and equipment, collecting and analyzing electronic data, and troubleshooting electrical components. The position offers strong career growth, including the opportunity to advance into a Test Engineering role while working with high-tech equipment that supports the rapidly growing data center industry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform functional testing of UPS, charger, and inverter modules to verify conformance with specified requirements.
  • Conduct electrical tests and systems testing on UPS units using appropriate electronic test equipment.
  • Conduct witness tests and assist Test Engineers in performing witness tests as required.
  • Design and develop instrumentation systems that incorporate uncertainty analysis to achieve highly accurate testing systems.
  • Collect and record test data using electronic equipment and ensure data integrity and accuracy.
  • Perform physical inspection and functional inspection of electrical components prior to and during testing.
  • Operate test bays, test stations, and associated equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot and repair faulty electrical components and systems identified during testing.
  • Assess product performance and evaluation against engineered standards, including UL, CSA, and IEEE standards.
  • Review order write-ups to understand customer and engineering requirements before testing.
  • Operate and verify components to ensure product quality and compliance with agency approvals.
  • Collaborate with other departments and areas to ensure overall product quality and timely issue resolution.
  • Configure and connect system equipment such as switchgear, SCCT cabinets, and power ties for testing.
  • Perform preliminary inspections and tests on configured systems to confirm correct setup and operation.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and testing protocols while working with electrical and electronic systems.
  • Support continuous improvement of testing processes and instrumentation by providing feedback and suggestions.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in Electronics.
  • At least 6 months of electronics experience.
  • Electronic testing experience with electrical and electronic systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical circuitry, including analog and digital circuitry.
  • Ability to work with printed circuit boards (PCB).
  • Experience using electrical instruments and electronic test equipment.
  • Understanding of UL, CSA, and IEEE standards or ability to assess products against engineered standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, order write-ups, and engineering requirements.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and repairing faulty electrical components.
  • Capability to configure and connect system equipment such as switchgear and related cabinets.
  • Willingness and ability to work assigned shifts and required overtime, including some Saturdays.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience supporting test engineering activities or working closely with Test Engineers.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation systems and uncertainty analysis in testing environments.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or production testing environment.
  • Comfort working with high-tech equipment used in power and data center applications.
  • Interest in growing into a Test Engineering role after gaining experience as a Test Technician.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to ensuring product quality and compliance.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with engineers, technicians, and other teams.
  • Motivation to learn advanced testing methods and industry standards relevant to critical power infrastructure.

Work Environment

This role is based in a clean manufacturing environment, working alongside approximately 12 other engineers and technicians. The position operates within a structured shift schedule, with opportunities on first shift (6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.), second shift (2:30 p.m.–11:00 p.m.), and third shift (10:30 p.m.–7:00 a.m.), Monday through Friday. Overtime is required for second and first shifts, with potential work on Saturdays, and may also apply to other shifts as needed. You will regularly work with electronic test equipment, test bays, and high-tech power systems that support the data center industry. The environment emphasizes hands-on technical troubleshooting, training, and collaboration, and provides a clear pathway for career progression into Test Engineering roles.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of DELAWARE, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $31.00/hr.
