Description:
- The Senior Software Application Developer is a senior-level engineer responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting secure, scalable, and maintainable software solutions.
- The role leverages modern engineering practices, including Java and Spring Boot development, cloud technologies, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and AI-assisted development tools, to deliver reliable business solutions.
- The Senior Developer provides Level 3 application support, contributes to engineering standards and continuous improvement initiatives, and serves as a technical mentor for less experienced team members while partnering closely with Product, Architecture, QA, Delivery, and DevOps teams.
- The role is expected to exercise technical ownership of assigned solutions, provide guidance to contractor and vendor development resources, review technical deliverables for quality and adherence to standards, and coordinate development activities across internal and external teams.
- The position provides technical leadership within assigned projects and workstreams while supporting the successful delivery of business and technology objectives.
- This position is a senior individual contributor role focused on technical excellence, delivery ownership, application reliability, mentoring, and the successful execution of complex software initiatives.
- This position follows a hybrid work model, with an expectation of three days per week in the office to support team collaboration and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain application code in accordance with approved technical specifications, Bank standards, secure coding practices, and applicable SDLC processes.
- Deliver assigned features, integrations, enhancements, and defect fixes from design through production deployment while maintaining quality, scalability, performance, and maintainability.
- Design and develop applications and services using Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and cloud-native development principles.
- Perform unit testing, integration testing, troubleshooting, and defect resolution to ensure delivery of high-quality software solutions.
- Participate in peer code reviews and pull request processes to maintain code quality, security, and compliance with engineering standards.
- Build, validate, and support deployment packages and releases using CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
- Contribute to automated testing, observability, monitoring, logging, and reliability improvements across supported applications.
- Provide Level 3 production support, perform root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and contribute to post-incident improvements.
- Apply secure coding practices and DevSecOps principles throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Systems Analysts, Architects, QA, DevOps, and Delivery teams to refine requirements and deliver solutions that meet business objectives.
- Use AI-assisted development capabilities responsibly for coding, test creation, documentation, code analysis, and troubleshooting while maintaining accountability for final deliverables.
- Collaborate effectively with internal team members, contractors, and vendor resources to ensure timely delivery of assigned work, knowledge sharing, adherence to development standards, and alignment with project objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience delivering enterprise software as a senior application developer with ownership of complex application components and production support responsibilities.
- Strong proficiency in modern Java development, including Spring Framework and Spring Boot, for building scalable applications, APIs, integrations, and services.
- Experience designing, building, and consuming RESTful APIs and service integrations.
- Strong proficiency with GitHub, including source control management, branching strategies, pull requests, and code review processes.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and modern software delivery practices.
- Experience working with AWS cloud services and cloud-native application development principles.
- Strong understanding of relational databases, SQL development, data modeling, and performance optimization.
- Hands-on experience with automated testing, unit testing, integration testing, and test automation practices.
- Experience providing technical guidance and work direction to contractor, offshore, or vendor development resources.
- Experience coordinating development activities across internal and external delivery teams.
- Ability to review vendor-delivered solutions, provide technical feedback, and ensure adherence to organizational coding, testing, security, and deployment standards.
- Experience working within Agile delivery frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, documentation, and code analysis.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and deliver work in iterative increments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Azure DevOps, including Boards, Pipelines, Repositories, and release management.
- Familiarity with Oracle database concepts, PL/SQL, Oracle APEX, and database performance considerations.
- Experience with .NET, C#, VB, or related Microsoft development technologies.
- Experience with data modeling and database design.
- Experience with Angular, React, or other modern frontend frameworks.
- Experience supporting SaaS applications and platform integrations.
- Experience mentoring junior developers and contributing to engineering best practices.
