As the Information Technology Application Support Specialist, you'll play a key role in ensuring AUVSI staff and members are effectively supported across our business applications, technology platforms, and evolving AI and automation environment.
\n
\n
This entry-level opportunity offers broad exposure to application administration, AI and automation initiatives, web content management, data and reporting, application testing and upgrades, system integrations, technical documentation, IT/AV support, and user training. You'll also have opportunities to step beyond traditional behind-the-scenes IT support by working directly with staff and providing onsite technical support at AUVSI meetings and events.

The Opportunity
\n
AUVSI is seeking an Information Technology Application Support Specialist to provide hands-on technology and application support across the organization.
\n
\n
The Specialist will serve as a resource for AUVSI staff, supporting business applications, helpdesk requests, project management systems, databases, websites, AI and automation initiatives, and day-to-day technology needs.
\n
\n
This role will work closely with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements, troubleshoot issues, support application and automation solutions, maintain technical documentation, and help staff use technology more effectively. The Specialist will also support AUVSI's growing use of AI and automation by helping translate user requirements into processes, coordinating with solution builders, and supporting automations once deployed.

The ideal candidate is a fast learner and self-starter with strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills who enjoys working directly with users and exploring new technologies.

This position is based in Arlington, Virginia and operates in a hybrid environment with four days per week required in the office.

Essential Job Functions
\n

- Provide day-to-day technical and application support to AUVSI staff across software platforms, systems, and technology projects.
- Support AUVSI's internal AI and automation initiatives by working with users to understand requirements, collaborating with solution builders to define process logic, and supporting automations after deployment.
- Assist in maintaining AUVSI's helpdesk ticketing and project management systems, including responding to support requests, troubleshooting issues, communicating status updates, and coordinating resolutions.
- Support AUVSI staff in designing, building, and maintaining projects and workflows in Asana.
- Serve as a systems resource for users and assist with support and maintenance across business applications, particularly database and automation-related systems.
- Provide end-user support and communication regarding application status, functional issues, data corrections, and system changes.
- Assist with user setup, system administration, permissions, application configuration, and ongoing system maintenance.
- Assist with data requests, reporting, data cleanup, and other database-related activities.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop, implement, and maintain web content and design.
- Develop expertise in the software and platforms used to manage AUVSI's portfolio of websites.
- Design and update webpages in WordPress and other content management systems, working with internal stakeholders to ensure content remains accurate and current.
- Maintain AUVSI's video and document libraries.
- Provide technical support for webinars, virtual meetings, presentations, and other technology-enabled programs.
- Assist with recording and video editing for presentations and other digital content.
- Write and maintain departmental standard operating procedures (SOPs), technical documentation, and instructions for IT-related systems and processes.
- Assist with IT and audiovisual needs in the AUVSI office and onsite at conferences, events, and meetings.
- Develop and deliver regular and customized technology training to teams and individual users across the association.
- Assist with IT systems onboarding and offboarding, including account provisioning, equipment allocation, access permissions, and related documentation.
- Assist with the planning, setup, installation, testing, training, and deployment of applications and technology solutions in production and development environments.
- Document, configure, and manage software and application implementations, upgrades, and updates.
- Assist with system integrations and application implementation projects.
- Manage or support special IT projects as assigned.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of AUVSI's mission and organizational priorities.

Qualifications
\n

- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Web Design, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience with association management systems and automation technologies; experience with Salesforce and netFORUM is a plus.
- Experience using AI tools and technologies to help solve challenges in IT support or business processes.
- Ability to independently research and solve technical problems using available resources, including documentation, knowledge bases, and online resources.
- Experience supporting association software or similar business applications preferred.
- Familiarity with WordPress or other content management systems; knowledge of HTML/CSS is a plus.
- Familiarity with databases and data management; knowledge of SQL is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to learn new technologies and applications quickly.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical users.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to translate user needs into clear technical or process requirements.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple support requests, projects, and priorities.
- Positive attitude, initiative, and a strong desire to learn, grow, and expand technical capabilities.
- Nonprofit or association experience preferred.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
