SUMMARY

The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for assisting in the overall direction, completion, and financial outcome for several concurrent projects, from pre-construction to closeouts. Reports to the Project Manager.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with reviewing drawings for questions or changes to be submitted via RFI.
  • Review RFIs received from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Assist with preparation of all change orders on the project.
  • Assist with development of cost and billing projections and project Schedule of Values (SOV).
  • Maintain liaison with prime client and A/E to facilitate construction activities.
  • Monitor construction activities in conjunction with the onsite Foreman and Division Superintendent to ensure project is being built on schedule, and within budgets.
  • Manage subcontractor activities including associated costs, schedule, and related change orders.
  • Represent company/project in meetings with client, subcontractors, etc.
  • Engage in business development.
  • Assist with managing financial aspects of contracts (progress billing, rental equipment, income/expenses) to protect the companys interest and simultaneously maintain a good relationship with the client.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Project Manager.


EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES REQUIRED

Minimum Experience: 5+ years of experience as a project manager, preferably in electrical construction.

Degree Required: Bachelors degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Structural Engineering or other related discipline preferred; or equivalent experience.

Certifications: California Drivers License, OSHA 10

Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000 annual salary DOE


Abilities Required:

Industry

  • Knowledge of construction technology, cost management, scheduling, equipment, and methods required.
  • Advanced abilities in reading and interpreting plans and specifications.
  • In-depth knowledge of the NFPA/NEC codes. Extensive knowledge of safety protocols and procedure.
  • Basic understanding of California Construction Law and claims avoidance principles
  • Experience managing electrical construction projects.

Business

  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Bluebeam skills (CAD and BIM) as well as Accubid and ProCore a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary.
  • Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
  • Problem-solving skills with a proven ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and discretion.
  • Understanding of the financials of a project and how to forecast.

Interpersonal

  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a high-performing team.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and negotiate effectively with team members, customers, consultants, vendors, and partners.
  • Business development / heavy client interaction.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills. Spanish language skills a plus.


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. May be sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, and bending. At a job site, may be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions.
  • The noise level is usually low to medium; it can be loud on a jobsite.

  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
