Senior Project Estimator - IAQ, Crawlspace, & Moisture Control
Job Description
Job Description
Company Description
DocAir has been helping Middle Tennessee homeowners and businesses keep their spaces healthy and comfortable since 2002. As a locally owned and operated company, we take pride in serving our community with solutions that really work for our climate and homes. We focus on finding and fixing the root causes of poor air quality—not just covering up the symptoms. We provide practical solutions that help you breathe cleaner air, save on energy costs, and protect your home’s value. At DocAir, we care about creating healthier homes and better living environments for every customer we serve.
Role Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Senior Project Estimator specializing in Residential Air Quality & Remediation! In this vital role, you will be the frontline expert responsible for assessing residential properties, estimating project costs, and ensuring accurate, competitive bids for air quality improvement and remediation projects. Your expertise will help homeowners improve their indoor environments while supporting our mission to deliver safe, healthy living spaces. This position offers an exciting opportunity to combine technical knowledge with customer-focused service, driving impactful solutions in the residential construction and environmental health sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- This is not a desk role — expect to be in the field daily across Middle Tennessee, spending meaningful time in crawlspaces, attics, and mechanical areas to identify moisture intrusion, air quality issues, structural vulnerabilities, and related problems.
- Conduct thorough in-home diagnostic assessments of residential and light-commercial properties to evaluate air quality issues and remediation needs.
- Develop accurate, detailed project estimates and walk homeowners through a clear, evidence-based explanation of what you discovered, why it matters, and what solving it looks like.
- You'll be expected to document your findings thoroughly — photos, measurements, and notes that support your estimates and protect the company if questions arise post-sale.
- Collaborate with Team Leads, clients, and contractors to negotiate scope adjustments and pricing strategies.
- Assist in cost control efforts by monitoring project expenses and adjusting estimates as needed throughout project lifecycle
What we're looking for
On the people side, you need to be the kind of person who can sit at a homeowner's kitchen table after an hour in their crawlspace, explain what you found without talking over their head, and guide them confidently toward a decision. You're not a pushy closer — you're a trusted advisor who happens to ask for the sale.
On the technical side, we're looking for demonstrated hands-on experience with one or more of the following:
- Crawlspace encapsulation systems, vapor barriers, and drainage solutions
- Dehumidifier sizing and installation
- Radon measurement and mitigation system design
- Residential moisture and indoor air quality diagnostics
A background as a licensed home inspector, radon professional (NRPP/NRSB), or industrial hygienist gives you a strong foundation. If you've run your own small operation in any of these trades, we want to talk.
