Role Description The Fiber Optic Splicer is a full-time, on-site role based in Los Angeles, CA. This position is responsible for installing, splicing, terminating, and testing fiber optic cables to support live audio and related production infrastructure. Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting network and cabling diagrams, preparing and organizing cables, performing precision fiber splicing, and ensuring proper labeling and documentation of all connections. The role involves troubleshooting connectivity issues, performing routine inspections, and maintaining tools and equipment in safe working condition. The Fiber Optic Splicer collaborates closely with audio engineers and production staff to ensure reliable signal transmission and timely completion of project milestones.\n

- Strong experience working with fiber optic and low-voltage cables, including cable handling, routing, and organization.
- Knowledge of cabling and structured cabling practices, including installation standards, termination techniques, and cable management.
- Basic understanding of electricity and safe work practices around electrical systems and low-voltage infrastructure.
- Proficiency in using hand tools relevant to cabling and splicing (e.g., strippers, cutters, crimpers, fusion splicers, test equipment).
- Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and documentation related to cabling layouts.
- Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and commitment to safety and quality control.
- Previous experience in telecommunications, networking, audio-visual, or live event production environments is beneficial.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in fiber optics or structured cabling is a plus.
- Ability to work on-site, lift and carry equipment, and perform tasks that may require standing, bending, or working at heights.
