CNC/Automation Electrical Commissioning Specialist
Job Description
Job DescriptionJoin EMAG and Power What’s Next
At EMAG, people make the difference. We invest in your growth through international project exposure, tailored development opportunities, and a benefits package that includes a strong 401k match and a $0 employee premium for medical, dental, and vision coverage.
A Day in the Life
You start by reviewing electrical schematics and wiring diagrams for a new machine tool build. Before lunch, you’re on the floor validating I/O, tuning servos, and verifying safety circuits. In the afternoon, you collaborate with controls and electrical engineering to finalize communication interfaces, then sync with a customer and third-party integrator to align on interface requirements. You wrap up by documenting programming updates, capturing test records, and preparing operator training notes for tomorrow’s run-off.
What You’ll Tackle
- Own electrical commissioning, startup, testing, troubleshooting, and operational verification for EMAG machine tools, CNC systems, and automation cells—at EMAG facilities and customer sites.
- Program, configure, and validate control components, peripheral devices, communication networks, and automation functions to meet customer specifications.
- Coordinate directly with customers, system integrators, equipment suppliers, and vendors to define interfaces, resolve issues, and integrate auxiliary systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
- Execute wiring checks, I/O verification, machine testing, and functional validation; assist with safety circuit testing and servo tuning.
- Troubleshoot electrical, PLC, CNC, servo, HMI, communication, and automation issues to root cause.
- Verify system performance against engineering specifications and customer expectations; support customer acceptance.
- Capture detailed commissioning documentation, test records, service reports, and customer sign-off.
- Deliver operator and maintenance training focused on electrical systems and safe operation.
- Champion safety, including lockout/tagout, electrical standards, and customer site policies; keep work areas orderly and safe.
- Drive continuous improvement in startup methods, troubleshooting processes, and operational efficiency.
- Travel domestically and internationally as project needs require; perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Your Toolkit
