Pay: $60/HR ~125K
Schedule: Full-time
Summary
We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator with strong experience in PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and Linux (RHEL) environments. This role focuses on installation, configuration, replication, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and automation. The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on experience supporting enterprise-scale databases and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities

Install, configure, and upgrade PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and related database systems.

Design and manage replication, clustering, and failover mechanisms.

Develop and maintain database backup/recovery strategies (pg_dump, pg_basebackup, pgBackRest, PITR).

Monitor performance, optimize queries, and troubleshoot issues (logs, slow queries, deadlocks, memory/IO bottlenecks).

Script and automate DBA tasks using Bash, Python, or Perl.

Support database security, access controls, and compliance practices.

Partner with developers, system admins, and commercial product teams to ensure database stability and scalability.

Participate in capacity planning, patching, and performance management.

Provide support for disaster recovery testing and database restores.

Stay current with emerging database technologies and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.

6–8 years of experience as a DBA with PostgreSQL and SQL Server.

Strong proficiency in Linux/Unix (RHEL preferred).

Expertise with database replication, partitioning, large dataset management, and extensions.

Skilled in scripting (Bash, Python, or Perl) for automation and monitoring.

Hands-on experience with backup/recovery tools and performance tuning.
Nice-to-Have Skills

EnterpriseDB, Oracle, or SQL Server advanced features.

PgBouncer, Pgpool, or pgwatch2.

Git for version control of database code/configurations.

Ansible for configuration management.

AWS database services.

Knowledge of GDPR, SOC2, or other compliance standards.
