D365 F&O Health Check Consultant ( Ability to travel to Stamford, CT )

Regulated Cannabis Industry — Legacy System Assessment Engagement
\n
\n
Scope of Engagement
\n
• Conduct a comprehensive health check/assessment of an existing (legacy) Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations instance
\n
• Deliver findings report covering technical debt, configuration gaps, performance issues, and upgrade readiness
\n
• Provide prioritized remediation recommendations
\n
\n
\n
Experience
\n
• 5+ years hands-on with Dynamics 365 F&O, including experience specifically performing system health checks or pre-upgrade assessments (not just implementations)
\n
• Track record reviewing legacy/aging instances — identifying customizations, deprecated features, unsupported ILV (Isolated Layer Versioning) code, and technical debt
\n
• Experience in regulated or highly-audited industries preferred (cannabis, pharma, alcohol/tobacco)
\n
\n
\n
Technical Skills
\n
• Ability to assess code quality/customizations (X++), database performance, integration health, data quality, and security/role configuration
\n
• Experience evaluating integrations with seed-to-sale tracking systems (e.g., METRC, BioTrackTHC, Leaf Data Systems)
\n
• Familiarity with Microsoft's LCS environment monitoring and diagnostic tools
\n
• Experience evaluating on-prem vs. cloud readiness if a migration path is being considered
\n
• Ability to assess SSRS reports and identify broken/redundant reporting
\n
\n
\n
Compliance & Regulatory Knowledge
\n
• Understanding of state cannabis regulatory frameworks and how they intersect with ERP controls
\n
• Ability to evaluate whether current configuration adequately supports 280E cost allocation and audit trail requirements
\n
• Experience assessing chain-of-custody and inventory reconciliation controls within the system
\n
\n
Deliverables Expected

• Written health check report (technical and functional findings)
\n
• Risk/gap assessment tied to compliance requirements
\n
• Roadmap or recommendations for remediation, optimization, or upgrade
\n
\n
\n
Soft Skills
\n
• Strong written communication — the report must be digestible for both IT and business/compliance stakeholders
\n
• Comfortable working independently with limited handholding (assessment engagements often start with sparse documentation)
\n
• Vendor-neutral perspective, since findings may include recommending replacement of certain customizations or integrations
\n
\n
\n
Nice to Have
\n
• Prior D365 F&O upgrade project experience (health checks often feed into upgrade decisions)
\n
• Experience with a specific state's cannabis compliance system
\n
• Sample health check report or assessment methodology available for review
