Job Summary
This position supports a contract for Wakulla County, FL Information Technology (IT) Services. The Cloud Systems Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining physical and virtual server infrastructure, supporting both on-premises and cloud-based systems. The administrator will ensure server reliability, backup integrity, and secure performance across platforms, including Hyper-V and VMware environments. This is a remote position requiring a proactive, detail-oriented professional experienced in enterprise-level infrastructure support and disaster recovery operations.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Manage and maintain physical and virtual servers to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
- Provide general administration and support for Hyper-V and VMware hypervisors.
- Perform regular server updates, security patching, and performance tuning.
- Manage Active Directory (AD) and Entra ID synchronization and integration.
- Conduct proactive health checks and continuous monitoring of server environments.
- Design, implement, and execute backup and disaster recovery plans for server infrastructure.
- Facilitate and monitor secure, encrypted, air-gapped cloud backups for production data stored off-site.
- Coordinate with IT and security teams to ensure infrastructure complies with data protection standards and operational requirements.
- Document infrastructure configurations, standard operating procedures, and recovery protocols.
- Stay current on evolving best practices and technologies in cloud systems administration.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (required).
- VCTA VMware Certified Technical Associate (required).
- 3+ years of experience in server administration, virtualization, and infrastructure management.
- Hands-on experience with both Hyper-V and VMware environments.
- Proficiency in managing AD and Entra ID synchronization.
- Solid understanding of backup and disaster recovery strategies, including air-gapped cloud storage.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for physical and virtualized server environments.
- Familiarity with system monitoring tools and performance analytics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and respond quickly to infrastructure issues.
- Experience supporting public sector or municipal IT environments is a plus.
