Job Description
Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities
Data Platform & Migration
* Design the firm"s data architecture in Microsoft Fabric, including a Lakehouse / medallion (bronze-silver-gold) model, and lead the migration of legacy SQL databases, ETL server processes, and aging vendor reporting into it.
* Establish engineering standards for source control, CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and documentation across the data estate.
* Define how data is delivered to and interacts with users through semantic models, Power BI, and self-service tooling, with a clear vision for the end-user experience.
* Leverage AI (Microsoft Copilot, agents, and AI-assisted development) to accelerate delivery and unlock new analytical and operational capabilities.
Operations & Reliability
* Partner with business teams to identify opportunities to add efficiency or capability through technology, and translate those into architected solutions.
* Build resilient, stress-tested solutions and lead root-cause diagnosis when processes fail.
* Document architecture, dependencies, and runbooks so critical knowledge is shared, not siloed.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience defined as eight (8) or more years in data engineering/architecture roles, including at least one delivered production migration to a modern data platform. Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft DP-600 Fabric Analytics Engineer or Azure Data Engineer Associate) may substitute for formal education.
* Demonstrated experience architecting and delivering modern data platforms. Direct Microsoft Fabric experience is strongly preferred; equivalent, transferable experience on Azure Synapse, Databricks, or a comparable Lakehouse platform
* Strong SQL engineering skills (not just data extraction) and proven ability to model, transform, and land data in its intended destination.
* Hands-on experience building data pipelines / ETL and integrating disparate systems via APIs.
* Proficiency with Power BI semantic models and report development.
* Comfort working in a Microsoft 365 / Azure ecosystem (OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, Entra).
