Job Overview
PrideStaff is seeking a rigorous, detail-oriented Quality Assurance Specialist for a temp-to-hire opportunity with a premier ingredient supplier in Moonachie, NJ. This position offers top candidates a direct pathway to permanent employment based on performance and fit.
In this role, you will play a critical part in preparing the facility for an upcoming Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) audit for FSSC 22000 certification. This is a dynamic, hands-on opportunity balancing daily plant-floor verification with critical administrative compliance and supplier qualification.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Facility & Sanitation Oversight
- Facility Walkthroughs: Conduct structured daily audits of operational conditions, cGMP compliance, and overall plant hygiene.
- Sanitation Verification: Audit the cleaning and sanitation of processing equipment and environments, ensuring chemical concentrations, pre-operational checks, and logs are correctly executed.
- SOP Compliance: Monitor daily operations to ensure active Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are strictly followed on the floor.
Sampling, Testing & Product Release
- Ingredient Sampling: Perform physical sampling of raw materials, in-process ingredients, and finished products per QA sampling plans.
- Test Results Review: Review internal and third-party laboratory analytical data, including Certificates of Analysis (CoAs) and microbiological/chemical testing results.
- Product Release Management: Review records to approve the release of compliant ingredients, or flag and place non-conforming materials on hold.
Supplier Qualification & Audit Preparation
- Supplier Qualification Program: Manage vendor documentation (third-party audits, certificates, specifications, and regulatory statements) to ensure 100% accuracy and compliance.
- Audit Readiness: Organize and manage the technical document control system to support full readiness for the upcoming FSSC 22000 / GFSI certification audit.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 2–4 years of hands-on QA/QC experience in Food, Beverage, Pet Food, or Dietary Supplement manufacturing/distribution.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biology, or a related scientific discipline preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Direct experience with sanitation verification methods (ATP swabbing, allergen testing) and reviewing lab test results/CoAs.
- Audit Familiarity: Solid working knowledge of cGMPs, HACCP, and GFSI frameworks (FSSC 22000, SQF, or BRC).
- Key Skills: High attention to detail, proactive problem-solving skills, and the confidence to enforce quality standards directly on the facility floor.
