Job Title: Senior System Software Programmer
Location: Columbia, SC (Remote Work, Eastern or Central Time Zone)
Duration: 12 Months (with possible extension)

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior System Software Programmer to support the development, maintenance, and technical support of critical software systems. The role involves leading data migration, software implementation, and mentoring junior developers, with a focus on systems related to water quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Software Development: Design, implement, and maintain software, especially for environmental and water-related applications.
- Testing & Debugging: Perform manual and automated testing, troubleshoot, and resolve service desk issues.
- Collaboration: Work with technical teams, business analysts, and stakeholders to refine software requirements.
- Mentoring: Guide junior developers and participate in code reviews.
- Migration Support: Assist with data migration by identifying dependencies and technical requirements.
- Documentation: Maintain system and recovery documentation, ensuring compliance with security standards.
- Additional Duties: Perform ad-hoc tasks as needed.
Required Skills:
- 8+ years of software development experience, especially in government IT projects.
- 8+ years in SQL optimization and stored procedures.
- 3+ years experience with Water Quality/Safety Information Systems.
- Proficiency in ASP.NET, .NET, C#, HTML, CSS.
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and software testing skills.
- Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and software security best practices.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with SDWIS, WQX, SWIFT, DW-SFTIES.
- Experience with Apache Tomcat, Java, and working with environmental agencies.
- Familiarity with service desk platforms and Microsoft Office.
Education/Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
