Condustrial Inc is now hiring a CAT6 Data Cable Technician in Columbia, SC.
We are seeking an experienced CAT6 Data Cable Technician to support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems in a healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in sensitive, compliance-driven settings such as hospitals and medical clinics.
Shift: 7a-5pm
Pay: $23-$25 (DOE)
*This position is in a local hospital, and is expected to last a year or longer*
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with an established team of structured cabling professionals.
- Install, terminate, and test CAT6 (and CAT6A) Ethernet cables according to TIA/EIA standards.
- Mount and label data jacks, patch panels, and network racks.
- Perform site surveys and assess network cabling requirements in clinical and administrative areas.
- Route cables through ceilings, walls, conduit, and raised floors in accordance with safety and building codes.
- Ensure minimal disruption to patient care and clinical operations during installations or repairs.
- Conduct cable certification tests using Fluke or equivalent equipment and maintain accurate documentation.
- Diagnose and repair connectivity issues involving copper cabling infrastructure.
- Comply with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and infection control protocols during work.
- Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and technical drawings.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and hospital facilities staff as needed.
- Maintain inventory of cabling tools, supplies, and equipment
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification (e.g., BICSI Installer, CompTIA Network+) preferred.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in structured cabling, preferably in healthcare or commercial settings.
- Strong knowledge of TIA/EIA standards and best practices.
- Familiarity with infection control standards in clinical environments.
- Ability to use cable testers, toners, fish tapes, drills, and other hand/power tools safely.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs and work in elevated spaces.
- Excellent documentation, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Must pass background checks and health screenings per hospital policy.
- Valid immunization records showing proof of measles, mumps, and rubella immunity (MMR)
-Valid immunization record showing proof varicella (chicken pox) immunity
-Proof of hepatitis B immunity
-Successful TB test (Single-step skin test NOT accepted; Quantiferon Gold recommended; TWO-STEP skin test accepted)
- Proof of current seasonal flu vaccine (required annually)
-Successful 7-year background check
-Successful negative drug screen
