Job Title: Software Verification Engineer
Job Description
This role focuses on hands-on software verification for a next-generation networking device used in aerospace and defense applications. You will design and implement Python-based automated tests, perform white box testing using Pytest, and work directly with source code, logs, and configuration files in a Linux environment. The position requires an active DoD Secret clearance and offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with software and systems engineers on safety-critical systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and execute white box software verification tests using Python and Pytest.
- Build, enhance, and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts integrated with continuous integration (CI) pipelines.
- Perform hands-on software verification with direct access to source code, logs, and configuration files.
- Debug test failures by analyzing system logs, code behavior, stack traces, and test outputs.
- Maintain full traceability between requirements, test cases, and verification results, ensuring comprehensive coverage.
- Collaborate closely with software and systems engineers to identify defects, validate fixes, and improve overall software quality.
- Execute tests in Linux-based environments and use Git for version control, including branching, merging, and participating in code reviews.
- Contribute to software testing and automation best practices, focusing on white box testing and embedded software verification.
Essential Skills
- Strong proficiency in Python for test automation and software verification.
- Hands-on experience with Pytest or similar Python-based testing frameworks.
- Solid understanding of white box testing concepts and software verification methodologies.
- Experience using Git for source control, including branching, merging, and pull requests.
- Comfort working in Linux environments for development, testing, and debugging.
- Experience reviewing logs, stack traces, and source code to diagnose and resolve issues.
- Experience with software testing and automation for embedded systems.
- Active DoD Secret clearance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including the OSI model, IPv4, and subnetting.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and GitLab-based automation workflows.
- Experience working with Docker containers for test or development environments.
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or other safety-critical systems.
- Experience with requirements management and verification documentation tools such as Cameo.
Work Environment
This is an onsite role based in Grand Rapids, MI, working in a Linux-focused engineering environment with modern software development and verification tools. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams, participate in CI/CD workflows, and work with technologies such as Git, Pytest, Docker, and networking-focused embedded systems. Onsite work is required, and a per diem allowance of up to $900 is available for eligible candidates.

This is a Contract position based out of Grand Rapids, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $67.31 - $84.13/hr.
