Blythe Development is a 100% employee-owned, licensed general contractor headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. Founded in 1989, we specialize in site work, road construction, and golf course construction throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. With more than 900 employees, we self-perform approximately 80% of site groundwork, including clearing, grading, utilities, drainage, concrete, structures, stone base, and asphalt paving.
About the Role
The Assistant Project Manager supports the planning and delivery of site-development and civil construction projects valued from $2 million to $25 million. Working with project managers, field teams, clients, and trade partners, this role helps coordinate schedules, resources, costs, contracts, quality, and safety from clearing through pavement markings.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, and coordination across all phases of site-development work
- Track project costs, budgets, production, and other project controls
- Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and other resources
- Support project accounting, contract administration, documentation, and reporting
- Review plans and specifications and help maintain quality-control standards
- Communicate with project managers, field teams, clients, and trade partners to keep work progressing on schedule
- Help identify and resolve field, schedule, cost, and compliance issues
- Promote and maintain company safety requirements on every project
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in engineering, construction management, construction, or a related field
- Ability to collaborate effectively on site-grading projects valued from $2 million to $25 million
- Understanding of site-development phases from clearing through pavement markings
- Strong organization, communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to travel reliably throughout the region
- Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Project, Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, Trimble Construction One, Vista, or similar construction-management and accounting software
