Database Engineer Description
Plans, designs, develops, and improves an organization's databases to ensure efficient data storage, access, and security. Heavily involved in migrating schemas to optimize for more efficient data retrieval and working with development teams to assist in query optimizations. Collaborates with development teams, and users as needed, to ensure the database architecture meets requirements and organizational needs. Monitors database performance, scalability, and security. Evaluates existing database design to determine necessary updates, performance tuning, and integration requirements. Modifies procedures to optimize database designs. Provides guidance to teams as needed to meet these goals.
A typical day may include the following:
- Analyzing database design/architecture/tech stack and recommending improvements
- Query optimizations
- Reviewing MRs that involve DB schema changes or new/modified queries
- Creating diagrams for existing databases
- Providing guidance to Product Owners to plan iterative changes to the schema that limit, or strategically coordinates, impact to existing applications

You should bring these skills to the table:
- PostgreSQL
- SQLite
- Proficient in Structured Query Language
- Understands Triggers and Stored Procedures
- Understanding of Agile processes
- Some experience in NoSQL databases
Bonus points if you have:
- Experience in Cybersecurity
- Cloud hosting via AWS/Azure (including RDS)
- Experience in IT System Administration, and/or DevOps
Pay Range:
Database Engineer III: $107,700.00-$132,200.00
Database Engineer III
Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Typically requires 4-7 years of related experience. Requires a bachelor’s degree.
Other Requirements:
- Due to the nature of our work, it is mandatory that you are a U.S. Citizen and able to comply with Government regulations
- Successfully complete background check and maintain a valid USA driver’s license
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
- Beast Code is a drug free work environment using mandatory pre-employment drug testing and random drug testing as per all applicable laws
