Required Skills & Experience
- Must be available for rotating shifts, providing 24/7 coverage
- Must be able to work 12‐hour shifts, up to 7 days per week
- Must be willing to work extended hours, with potential to reach up to 80 hours per week
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Minimum 2 years of hands‐on fiber splicing experience (single‐mode preferred)
- Willingness to travel to other customer sites as needed on a per diem basis (preferred, not required)
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to work in high‐demand environments
Job Description
Insight Global is looking for a Fiber Splicer to help support a large‐scale data center project in New Albany requiring experienced fiber splicers to support critical network infrastructure. The technician will be responsible for installing, splicing, testing, and documenting fiber optic cable to ensure high‐performance, reliable connectivity within the data center environment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform fiber splicing and termination for single‐mode fiber using fusion splicing methods
- Install, route, label, and dress fiber optic cabling in data center pathways, racks, and enclosures
- Conduct OTDR and power meter testing to verify fiber integrity and performance
- Read and interpret fiber schematics, prints, and route maps
- Document work completed, test results, and issues in accordance with project standards
- Troubleshoot fiber issues, identify defects, and perform corrective repairs as needed
- Maintain strict adherence to safety policies, site rules, and quality standards
- Work closely with project leads, technicians, and other trades to meet aggressive project timelines
- Support additional project sites as required, with travel opportunities available
