Summary
The Senior Product Reliability Engineer III leads the strategy, governance, and continued maturation of SENS's product reliability program. This role serves as the senior technical authority for product reliability, translating field, warranty, manufacturing, supplier, and test data into enterprise priorities and measurable product improvements. The position drives cross-functional corrective action, influences product and technology roadmaps, develops technical capability across the organization, and provides leadership with clear assessments of reliability performance, risk, and investment needs.
Responsibilities
- Own the product reliability strategy, multi-year roadmap, governance model, and annual priorities, aligning reliability investments with business, customer, and product objectives.
- Serve as SENS's senior technical authority for product reliability and advise leadership on field performance, emerging risks, corrective action status, and resource priorities.
- Define and maintain reliability requirements, targets, and acceptance criteria for new and sustaining products, influencing architecture, design reviews, qualification plans, release readiness, and lifecycle decisions.
- Establish and govern reliability metrics, including field failure rates, warranty performance, MTTF, MTBF, reliability growth, and corrective action effectiveness.
- Lead systems and processes for collecting, validating, analyzing, and reporting field, warranty, manufacturing, supplier, and test data; translate trends into strategic priorities and executive-level dashboards.
- Lead cross-functional failure review and corrective action processes, driving timely containment, root-cause determination, corrective and preventive actions, effectiveness verification, and organizational learning.
- Prioritize and lead reliability improvement programs across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Customer Support, and external partners; develop risk assessments, business cases, implementation plans, and resource recommendations.
- Direct complex electrical, firmware, battery system, and electromechanical failure investigations at the component, assembly, and system levels using laboratory instrumentation and diagnostic equipment.
- Establish and guide reliability test strategies, including accelerated life testing and reliability growth testing, and use results to validate design decisions and corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain the reliability knowledge base, standard methods, design guidelines, and lessons learned for reuse across product families.
- Mentor engineers and technical personnel, lead technical reviews, and build organizational reliability capability through training, coaching, and clear decision-making frameworks.
- Represent reliability in product portfolio, technology, and operational planning, and recommend staffing, laboratory, tooling, and capital investments needed to achieve reliability objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in engineering or similar technical discipline.
- 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in product reliability, quality, design, test, or failure analysis within industrial electronics or battery systems company.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional reliability, field failure analysis, and corrective action programs with measurable results.
- Effective technical leadership, mentoring, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills.
