The Re-Entry Services Department assists returning citizens ensure a successful transition from prison to the community through proactive and professional support. The Management Information Specialist MIS secures, distributes, tracks, and coordinates all participant resources and completes reports for the MDOC. The MIS presents information about the program to the community and secures interns for the program. All Re-Entry Services Team Members engage in active collaboration with the Community Coordinator, CCWC program staff, field agents, local landlords, and other agencies in order to effectively coordinate services and communication across providers, increase client engagement, and improve client outcomes.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Document flow of services and outcomes for all clients, including routine case notes for all client contact, in accordance with program and funder requirements
- Cultivate partnerships with local organizations and develop new resources, housing, and employment opportunities for all involved
- Assist in developing, managing, and holding community advisory council meetings
- Maintain availability for emergencies as coordinated with program leadership.
- Assist other case managers in Region 9 which may require travel to Hillsdale, Lenawee, Livingston, Monroe, Jackson, or Washtenaw counties as needed
- Abide by Standard Operating Procedures of the Re-Entry Department
- Understand and effectively communicate the Offender Success mission, vision, core values and strategic direction to key stakeholders, policy makers, service providers, MDOC Field Agents and other community organizations
- Track all referrals and services in Region 9 including cost and service caps for each client
- Coordinate with case managers to place orders for needed goods
- Track orders and maintain inventory
- Assist in coordinating trainings and orientations for volunteers and interns of the program as needed
- Maintain up-to-date records according to Agency/program standards.
- Advocate for clients within the community
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Associates degree and/or experience in human services or related field
- Bachelors degree with relevant human services college coursework or one year experience in related field is preferred
- Experience providing supportive services to returning citizens, unhoused populations, substance use disorder, and mental health conditions is preferred
- Experience with Excel, Sharepoint, and spreadsheet creation is required
- Valid driver’s license and any certifications required by the state of Michigan or accreditation bodies
- Ability to work with the public and clients in a professional, courteous, and pleasant manner
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
