Title: Software Developer
Location: Phoenix, AZ — On-Site during the 4-month contract period; Remote after conversion
Type: Contract-to-Hire (4 months)
Compensation: Up to $41.00/hour
Position Overview
Phoenix Staff is seeking a Software Developer to design, enhance, and support production web applications. This role requires strong SQL expertise, including 3–5 years of SQL Server experience and hands-on experience developing SQL queries and stored procedures.
The Software Developer will work closely with business analysts and other stakeholders to translate requirements into reliable application solutions, troubleshoot production issues, implement enhancements, and maintain supporting technical documentation. Candidates must currently reside in the Phoenix area and be available to work on-site during the initial four-month contract period. The position is expected to transition to remote work upon conversion.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain web applications based on functional and technical requirements, established development standards, and industry best practices.
- Provide production application support, including resolving system issues and responding to end-user service requests.
- Investigate, debug, and resolve application defects and other development-related problems.
- Implement application fixes, updates, and enhancements.
- Create and maintain SQL queries and stored procedures within SQL Server environments.
- Perform unit and system testing to validate application functionality and quality.
- Develop SSRS reports as needed.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation throughout the software development lifecycle, including functional and technical specifications, use cases, test cases, and system documentation.
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand business needs and contribute to functional specifications.
- Work within an environment that may include SQL Server, SQL, SSMS, ASP.NET, C#, Visual Studio, SSRS, Azure Database, Azure Storage, GitHub, and Azure App Services.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of hands-on SQL Server experience.
- Expert-level SQL skills.
- Demonstrated experience developing SQL queries.
- Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining stored procedures.
- Strong analytical, debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to support applications in a production environment and effectively resolve technical issues.
- Must currently reside in the Phoenix, Arizona area and be able to work on-site during the four-month contract period.
- Must be available for an in-person interview and able to begin employment within the required hiring timeline.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
- Exposure to technologies such as SSMS, ASP.NET, C#, Visual Studio, Azure Database, Azure Storage, GitHub, and Azure App Services.
