Compensation: $175k–$200k annually, commensurate with experience and engagement structure
Overview
Automated Industries is seeking a Cloud Engineering Manager to oversee cloud infrastructure operations across AWS and GCP. This role will manage a team of 3–5 cloud infrastructure engineers, provide technical leadership, supervise day-to-day execution, and work directly with cloud vendors to manage contracts, negotiate pricing, optimize costs, and ensure reliable delivery of cloud services.
The ideal candidate combines strong cloud infrastructure knowledge with hands-on management experience, vendor relationship ownership, and the ability to align technical execution with business and budget priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Team Leadership
- Manage and supervise a team of 3–5 cloud infrastructure engineers
- Assign priorities, review work, and ensure high-quality execution across cloud infrastructure projects
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to cloud engineers
- Coordinate engineering resources across infrastructure, DevOps, security, and application teams
- Support hiring, onboarding, and team development as needed
Cloud Infrastructure Oversight
- Oversee cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP environments
- Ensure cloud systems are scalable, reliable, secure, and cost-effective
- Guide implementation of infrastructure standards, operational processes, and best practices
- Partner with engineering teams to support application, data, and AI/ML workloads
- Review infrastructure plans, architectural decisions, and operational risks
Vendor & Contract Management
- Work directly with AWS, GCP, and related cloud vendors
- Manage cloud contracts, vendor relationships, renewals, and service agreements
- Negotiate rates, discounts, credits, reserved capacity, enterprise agreements, and cost structures
- Evaluate vendor proposals and make recommendations based on cost, performance, and business value
- Track cloud spend, identify cost-saving opportunities, and drive budget accountability
Operational Excellence
- Oversee CI/CD, deployment automation, monitoring, observability, and incident response practices
- Ensure security, compliance, backup, and disaster recovery standards are followed
- Lead cloud cost optimization initiatives across teams and environments
- Support incident reviews, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts
- Create and maintain operational reporting for engineering leadership
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or platform engineering experience
- 3+ years managing or supervising cloud infrastructure or DevOps engineers
- Strong familiarity with AWS and GCP services, including compute, storage, networking, IAM, databases, and monitoring
- Experience managing cloud vendor relationships, contracts, renewals, and pricing negotiations
- Demonstrated success optimizing cloud costs and managing cloud budgets
- Strong understanding of infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, automation, and cloud operations
- Ability to communicate technical and financial trade-offs to engineering and business stakeholders
- Experience working with distributed, offshore, or hybrid engineering teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing cloud contracts at enterprise scale
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, containers, microservices, and modern DevOps practices
- Background supporting AI/ML, data platform, or high-scale application infrastructure
- Experience in fast-growth or high-velocity engineering environments
- AWS, Google Cloud, FinOps, or related cloud certifications
Work Environment
- On-site Tuesday through Thursday
- Remote Monday and Friday

Base Compensation: $175k–$200k annually, commensurate with experience
