Job Description

Job Description

The Cyber Solution Engineer is the frontline defender of the managed network environment. This role focuses on the deployment, maintenance, and initial analysis of Network Detection and Response (NDR) technologies. You are responsible for ensuring "eyes-on-glass" continuity and maintaining the operational health of the security stack to protect client assets.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deployment & Optimization: Install network sensors and conduct initial tuning to ensure high-fidelity data capture.
  • Network Integration: Review and configure firewall/network settings to ensure seamless sensor installation and traffic visibility.
  • Operational Maintenance: Perform daily health checks to ensure client sensors remain online with healthy heartbeat signals and troubleshoot sensor issues as they arise.
  • Initial Triage: Act as the primary analyst for NDR alerts, differentiating between False Positives and True Positives to reduce "alert fatigue" for senior staff.
  • Security Documentation: Prepare weekly and monthly security posture reports to communicate value and risk to clients.

Candidate Profile & Education:

  • Required:
    • Experience: 1-3 Years in IT or Security
    • Proficiency in Linux command line, TCP/IP, and basic network troubleshooting
    • Basic understanding of cyber security principles and practices
  • Preferred:
    • Demonstrated experience using a SIEM (querying) (product agnostic)
    • Experience with log analysis
    • Previous work in customer-facing roles
    • Demonstrated ability to use LLMs for self-research and troubleshooting while maintaining a "trust but verify" mindset
  • Bonus:
    • Experience interacting with LogScale, Zeek, and/or Suricata
    • Clearance
  • Education:
    • Academic Path: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or Information Technology. Reason: Provides the theoretical foundation of networking and OS architecture.
    • Non-Traditional Path: Completion of a reputable Cybersecurity Bootcamp (e.g., SANS, Flatiron, or Cybrary). Reason: Focuses on hands-on "keyboard time" and immediate tool proficiency.
  • Certifications: CompTIA Security+ or Network+, or Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) Cybersecurity. Reason: These are industry-standard entry-level benchmarks for foundational knowledge.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
