We are seeking a Network Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge maritime systems, grow your engineering expertise, and play a hands-on role in supporting fleet operations.
About the Role
As a Network Engineer, you will work closely with industry team members and government personnel to maintain and enhance the performance of . This role emphasizes learning, collaboration, and practical problem-solving in high-tempo operational settings. You will gain valuable experience tackling networking and technical challenges while contributing to training and integration events. This position will work primarily at government facilities with opportunity to work remotely about 25% of the time.
Key Responsibilities
- Fleet Operations Support:
Work alongside Navy operators to resolve issues and integrate new technologies with the sUSV platform.
- Documentation & Communication:
Assist in generating and releasing technical, operational, and training documentation in line with BlackSea standards. Support Navy and government program office personnel with clear and actionable materials.
- Troubleshooting:
Assess network outages and work with industry and government teams to make repairs in the field and recommend system improvements.
- Collaboration:
Effectively communicate with government and industry stakeholders, both technical and non-technical, to explain complex network issues.
- Continuous learning:
Stay updated with evolving network technologies and government and industry trends. Advise on current capabilities, limitations and help make predictions for the future.
- Event Participation:
- Take part in training, integration, and RDTE (Research, Development, Test & Evaluation) events. Some travel is required to provide on-site support and training when exercises are non-local to San Diego.
Required Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in computer engineering or a related field is required.
- Relevant internships or hands-on project experience in networking or maritime systems is a plus.
- Experience:
- At least 5 years of professional experience in network or computer engineering.
- Skills:
- Foundational knowledge of TCP/IP, subnetting, multicast routing protocols, and switching mechanisms.
- Ability to identify and resolve network issues through logical analysis and systematic approaches.
- Knowledge of security protocols, firewalls, and best practices to safeguard networks from threats.
- Experience using programming languages to automate network tasks and develop custom solutions.
- Strong willingness to learn and adapt to high-tempo operational environments.
- Basic understanding of documentation standards and technical communication for government or military applications.
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills to work effectively with industry and Navy personnel.
- Excellent communication and soft skills to directly interface with customers and represent BlackSea company values.
- Other:
- Ability to obtain government clearance if not already obtained.
