About the Role
\n
A global technology organization is seeking a Public Cloud Architect to lead the architecture and continued evolution of its enterprise public cloud platform.
\n
\n
In this role, you will define how AWS is designed, secured, governed, and consumed across the organization. You will establish the architecture required to scale a complex hybrid environment while enabling greater automation, self-service, security, and operational consistency.
\n
\n
You will join during a critical stage in the organization’s cloud transformation. An established AWS platform currently operates within a single region and is supported by substantial existing documentation. Expansion into a resilient, scalable multi-region architecture will be a primary mandate for this position.
\n
\n
Cloud architecture leadership will also be needed for the regeneration of a business-critical supply chain platform. Success will require enterprise-level architectural thinking, strong technical depth, and the ability to guide implementation across multiple engineering teams.

Responsibilities
\n
- \n
- Define and drive the architecture and long-term strategy for the enterprise AWS platform
- Lead the expansion of an established single-region AWS environment into a resilient, scalable multi-region architecture
- Design and maintain AWS Organizations structures, including organizational units, account vending, and Control Tower guardrails
- Build and evolve secure cloud landing zones using Account Factory for Terraform
- Establish architecture standards for VPC segmentation, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect Gateway, private endpoints, and DNS
- Define and implement cloud security controls using service control policies, IAM Identity Center, GuardDuty, Security Hub, AWS Config, and WAF
- Create and maintain reusable Terraform modules and CloudFormation templates
- Define Kubernetes architecture and orchestration standards across the cloud platform
- Advance CI/CD, GitOps, infrastructure automation, and cloud-native engineering practices
- Enable application teams to consume cloud services through onboarding, service catalogs, technical documentation, quota management, and architecture reviews
- Establish cloud standards covering naming, tagging, exceptions, compliance, and audit readiness
- Drive cost accountability through tagging standards, usage reviews, Savings Plans, reserved-instance optimization, and FinOps practices
- Provide cloud architecture leadership for the regeneration of a business-critical supply chain platform
- Partner with engineering and business teams to ensure cloud investments support long-term enterprise priorities

Minimum Requirements
\n
- \n
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience
- 8 or more years of experience in cloud architecture, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, or a related discipline
- Deep hands-on architecture experience within AWS
- Experience designing and supporting enterprise AWS multi-account environments
- Experience with AWS Organizations, Control Tower, account vending, and Account Factory for Terraform
- Advanced Terraform and infrastructure-as-code experience in complex production environments
- Strong Kubernetes architecture and orchestration experience
- Hands-on AWS networking experience, including VPCs, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, and private endpoints
- Experience implementing security controls through SCPs, IAM Identity Center, GuardDuty, and Security Hub
- Experience supporting CI/CD and GitOps workflows
- Ability to translate enterprise requirements into secure, scalable, and supportable cloud architecture

Preferred Qualifications
\n

- Strong Linux engineering experience
- Previous software development or software engineering experience
- Experience with AWS CloudFormation
- Experience with FinOps practices, including Savings Plans, reserved instances, spot usage, cost allocation, or chargeback models
- Knowledge of CIS, NIST 800-53, AWS Well-Architected, or similar compliance and architecture frameworks
- Experience with CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus, or related observability platforms
- Experience with SAML, OIDC, Zero Trust architecture, or privileged-access management
- Experience with OpenShift or another enterprise Kubernetes platform
- Experience supporting GPU or high-performance computing workloads in AWS
- Experience building internal developer platforms, self-service portals, or enterprise service catalogs
- AWS Solutions Architect Professional or AWS DevOps Engineer Professional certification

Based in Dallas, Texas, the position requires onsite presence five days per week.

Compensation
\n

- Base salary is available up to $215,000 annually. Additional compensation may include a sign-on bonus, equity, and discretionary bonus opportunities. Final compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, and overall alignment with the position.
