Summary

Our client is a growing general contractor delivering construction projects throughout Orange County and Los Angeles County. They are seeking a Project Engineer / Site Engineer to support an active project based in Irvine, CA.

This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional with 2–3 years of experience who is looking to gain hands-on project experience and take on meaningful responsibility within a smaller, growing general contractor. The successful candidate will work closely with the project team to support day-to-day site operations, project documentation, subcontractor coordination, scheduling, and overall project execution.

The position will initially begin as a project-based assignment, with the current project expected to run approximately 1–3 months. For the right individual, there is an opportunity to transition into a permanent position with the company following successful completion of the initial assignment.

This is an onsite position based in Irvine, CA, with an anticipated start within the next 30 days.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Project & Site Coordination
• • Support day-to-day construction activities and project operations on site.
  • Assist the project team with coordinating subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
  • Monitor project progress and help ensure work is completed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and schedules.
  • Participate in project and site meetings and assist with tracking action items and follow-up requirements.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders to help resolve field and construction-related issues.
• Project Documentation
• • Assist with the preparation, tracking, and maintenance of project documentation.
  • Support the RFI, submittal, change order, and document control processes.
  • Maintain organized and accurate project records, drawings, specifications, and correspondence.
  • Assist with reviewing construction drawings and specifications to identify potential coordination issues.
  • Help document project progress and communicate relevant updates to the project team.
• Scheduling & Project Controls
• • Support project scheduling and the coordination of upcoming construction activities.
  • Track project milestones, outstanding items, and deliverables.
  • Assist with identifying potential schedule impacts and communicating issues to project leadership.
  • Help ensure subcontractors and vendors are aligned with project requirements and timelines.
• Quality & Field Support
• • Assist with monitoring construction activities for compliance with project plans and specifications.
  • Support quality control efforts and help identify items requiring correction or follow-up.
  • Coordinate with field personnel to address project questions and construction challenges.
  • Promote organized, efficient, and professional project execution throughout the assignment.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Required Experience
• • 2–3 years of construction experience, preferably in a Project Engineer, Field Engineer, Site Engineer, or similar role.
  • Experience working for a general contractor or within an active construction environment.
  • Experience supporting construction projects from the field and coordinating with project teams.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with RFIs, submittals, change orders, and construction documentation.
  • Ability to work onsite in Irvine, CA for the duration of the project.
• Technical Skills
• • Working knowledge of construction processes, sequencing, and project coordination.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to work with construction documentation and project management systems.
  • Ability to maintain accurate project records and track multiple outstanding items.
  • Understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
• Professional Skills
• • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and resolving project issues.
  • Ability to work effectively with project managers, field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
