About the Role
\n
We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to lead the development of the services behind Chekhub's platform. You'll work closely with product and the front-end team to design the APIs, data pipelines, and cloud services that mission critical teams rely on every day. This is a hands-on lead role where you'll shape backend architecture, help guide how AI is built into the platform, and advise other engineers as the team grows.

Responsibilities

- Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure backend services and APIs across Chekhub's platform.
- Serve as the backend lead, owning architecture decisions and advising peers as the platform and team scale.
- Partner with product and front-end engineers to translate requirements into features shipped end to end.
- Drive reliability, performance, and code quality across services and data.
- Other tasks, duties, and responsibilities as assigned or as business needs require.

Requirements
\n
- \n
- 4+ years of experience in backend development, ideally within a B2B SaaS environment.
- Strong proficiency in Node.js and server-side JavaScript.
- Hands-on experience with MongoDB and Google BigQuery (or similar NoSQL and SQL databases).
- Proven experience designing and building RESTful APIs within a microservices architecture.
- Solid understanding of authentication, authorization, and security best practices.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or similar cloud providers, and CI/CD practices; Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) a plus.
- Familiarity with AI tools for productivity (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar).
- Self-starter who can operate with autonomy in a fast-paced, startup environment.
- Must be located in the Raleigh, NC area.

Preferred Skills
\n

- Experience building AI-powered features or internal tooling, such as LLM integrations, agents, or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
- Experience designing AI system architecture, including model selection, context and prompt design, and evaluation.
- Experience training, fine-tuning, or deploying models with Google Vertex AI or similar AI/ML platforms.
- Containerization and orchestration experience (Docker, Kubernetes).
