The Wire Technician assembles, wires, and tests low-voltage electrical control panels and related systems, ensuring all components meet specifications and quality standards. This role involves interpreting electrical schematics and mechanical drawings, performing detailed wiring and mechanical assembly tasks, and collaborating with engineering and production teams to resolve issues and meet customer delivery schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble electrical and electronic systems or support structures and install components, units, subassemblies, wiring, and casings using rivets, bolts, soldering, or micro-welding equipment.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace electrical and electronic components to correct defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Drill or tap holes in specified equipment locations to mount control units or provide openings for elements, wiring, or instruments.
  • Fabricate and form parts, coils, or structures according to specifications using drills, calipers, cutters, or saws.
  • Confer with supervisors or engineers to plan or review work activities and to resolve production or quality problems.
  • Perform all assembly activities associated with a low-voltage technician, including mechanical assembly of components into cabinets.
  • Carry out all wiring tasks, including cutting, stripping, looming, terminating, and marking wires and cables.
  • Use small hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for mechanical and electrical assembly work.
  • Perform functional testing and quality assurance checks on completed panels to verify proper operation and compliance with standards.
  • Read, interpret, and comprehend electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings for accurate assembly and wiring.
  • Complete packaging and shipping activities for finished panels and assemblies as required.
  • Plan workload and delivery schedules to meet customer timelines and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Work collaboratively with internal support groups and team members to meet production goals.
  • Provide clear communication regarding status, issues, and needed support to ensure smooth workflow and customer satisfaction.

Essential Skills

  • 3–5 years of experience building and wiring electrical control panels, preferably low-voltage panels.
  • Related experience assembling and wiring low-voltage panels (2 to 5 years noted as relevant background).
  • Strong ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings.
  • Solid understanding of AC/DC electrical circuits and related equipment.
  • Ability to perform detailed wiring tasks, including cutting, stripping, looming, terminating, and marking.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools for electrical and mechanical assembly.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to plan workload and delivery schedules to meet customer requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve assembly and wiring issues.
  • Good customer service and communication skills for effective interaction with internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Comfort working independently at an individual workbench while adapting to changing priorities to support team objectives.
  • Ability to perform functional testing and quality assurance checks on completed electrical panels.
  • Capability to fabricate and form parts and structures using standard shop tools such as drills, calipers, cutters, and saws.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Electronics or technical degree preferred.
  • Formal technical training and skills development in electrical or electronics disciplines is highly beneficial.
  • Any hours toward electrical license classifications 06 or 06A are highly preferred.
  • Experience in environments such as panel shops, aerospace facilities, or vending/ATM machine repair is relevant and valued.
  • Ability to understand and work from electrical diagrams, schematics, and blueprints with a strong attention to detail.
  • Having personal hand tools is a significant plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with internal support groups and work as a team player.
  • Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities to meet team and customer deadlines.

Work Environment

The role is based in a dedicated panel shop located in a modern building in Mukilteo, near the Kamiak area. You will work primarily on a base shift, with the possibility of schedule flexibility to accommodate specific needs such as childcare. The environment provides an individual workspace and work table that can be customized ergonomically for comfort and efficiency. Work is mostly performed individually, using a variety of hand and power tools, while staying responsive to changing priorities to meet team and customer goals. The setting is clean, organized, and focused on precision electrical assembly and testing, with regular collaboration with engineers, supervisors, and internal support groups.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mukilteo, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
